So all holes milled out now, ready to put in the jacking tubes and then weld up.

After that I'll mark out and drill the holes for the tow bar and chassis mounting plate that'll be bolted through and welded for added strength

Looks like that bumper will be able to take a few shopping trolley bumps then!

Dr E, if your in Preston, is that UCLan uni? Myerscough campus possibly?

Measured the steel I'm using with the verniers  and its 5.5mm in most places with 5mm at the thinest which I presume is just a casting point, so nearly twice as thick as a chassis :D car park fools won't know what the've hit!

Not myerscough thats completely different, UCLan is the one :p

If the price is right for a pair of bumpers I'd have some too ;)

So your in the city centre campus? Didnt even know you could do engineering there! I was at Myerscough for a few years!

I'll send you a PM ;)

And yes, you know Wharf building ? sandwiched between the Tom Finney Sports Centre, Foster building, Darwin and Harris ? Essentially in the large dip by the railway track up the road from the Aldi, Blockbuster, Staples complex ?

I very rarely ventured into the city centre. Commuted home every day as it was only a few days study and then at home and it was only 40 mins away.

I've most likely been past the place as I have done other bits round Preston. But can't remember off the top of my head.

Its about a 10 min walk from train station so not too far, essentially if you come off the southbound junction into preston/blackpool roundabout and follow that road down until you get to chesters chicken (on your right) turn there and follow that road to adelphi and you're more or less a couple of minute walk from it wherever you park

Little more done today, managed to get the slider tubes welded in, welds need a little bit of a tidy up with a fine flap disk to remove the splatter and soot as you can see in the second pic

yeah that blue stuff burns and smells bad when its got heat near it!

Cleaned up the edges where the weld would be but didn't clean the rest as I was going to flap disk it later……….was a bit smokey in the welding area earlier

Just picked up the box for mounts and some plate for the end caps so nearly there :) be welding them in tomorrow and hopefully my x member mount will be there too so I can get it off to the guy :) builds taken less time than I anticipated too which is always nice!

havent taken any haha, had to clean up quickly so didn't get a chance

have one and a half sliders and the bumper to cap, then just add on the mounts/drill for towbar, add trim to top in order to cover gap on rear wings and job done
