Brake calliper bolt will not move

I have already called my mechanic and booked him for the morning. I asked him if he knows how to bleed with with the jar, he says yes, I say so why didn't he do it like that today? he says "Um".

Any hoo, I have a strong feeling this will be the fix.

Thanks again and I will let you know what happens.
Otherwise I will have to fly one of you guys in for the weekend to get my brakes sorted.

Might be worth putting the system under pressure overnight ie push the brake pedal down and wedge a length of wood between pedal and seat or steering wheel, worked a treat with the old mini's when we renewed all the brakes and wheel cylinders and couldn't get a good pedal

you need 2 people one to press pedal the other to open nipple when pedals up and close nipple when pedals down before letting up, commnincation is obviously needed so they know when to open or close nipple and press slowly not fast, whilst maintaining pipe stay submerged in fluid in jar, clues can be noticed on how many pumps air takes to clear at each corner

howay, the guy is a mechanic.. he must know how to bleed brakes :D
 
A mechanic i know bleed without the pipe too. I had very similar years ago, turned out to be a faulty master cylinder. Ive heard the seal are abit temperamental with vigorous bleeding

As soon as we bled the first one into the bottle (beer bottle) we did not have a jar, there was bubbles!
All 4 had bubbles, and this is after 4 or 5 bleeds.

Then we checked the M/C, it was fine.
Drove her home, perfect brakes!

Here is the problem with mechanics and land Rovers in The Bahamas.

1. There is no Land rover dealership in The Bahamas, so all the other dealerships will not touch it.

2. Even when you go to a brake specialist or any other specialist, defenders are such a rarity most of them will not even look at it.

3. "Bush Mechanics", these are self trained, un-licenced mechanic "wanna-bees". Some are good, some not so good.
The guy that I am using has actually had some training and is not so bad. He has a good spirit and is usually always availible and will really try to get it done. He has done all my suspension,brakes, wheel bearings and all the other things that have been done so far.
Between consulting all of you guys (which I really apreciate) and looking at youtube, I eventually get it done.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties, I have heard similar tales from my uncle, who used to manage a hotel in Nassau.
Sounds like yu might do better to invest the money in tools when things go wrong, instead of paying mechanics bills.:)
