Bonnet sound proofing

Firstly a big 'THANK YOU', to the previous owner who thought it a good idea to stick this **** under the bonnet of my latest 1984 90 purchase. 2 AA cards with a heatgun and 2 hrs of elbow grease later and it's off, who said the AA was useless! When I picked the car up a few weeks ago, I drove 100miles or so, I found small blobs of white stuff in various places. Turns out this **** was dripping onto the engine when warmed up. Nice.
Anyway, it's cleaned off now and back on the 90.
Can anyone suggest a good sound proof to fit and what options they have chosen?
I have the 2.3L petrol March 1984 ...almost historic....90.

A lot of people use Dynamat(?) for such things.
Did land Rover ever supply a sound mat for Ninety bonnet?
I don't remember our Series 2 with the same engine being particularly noisy in the engine department, everything else made your ears bleed though.

Never been any sound proofing on my Ninety's bonnet, only bulkhead.

This is the way it will stay until I decide to get something that looks nice. Sure the old petrol engine, whilst gutless, it's fairly quiet and it's no real issue. My old 65 Singer has a basic sound proofing under the bonnet, does not really need it, just helps a bit. I'll keep an eye out but not fussed.

Yes, I've used this in various places on my classic car, but not under the bonnet. Needs glue that can withstand heat. I can imagine a hot summers day in traffic, it's gonna get toasty under there, so dynamat or anything that glues on it s a no IMO.

There was some sound proofing on my early v8 bonnet. Was like the fibre glass type matting in black fabric. Sorry no pics

D90 300tdi bonnet insulation installation

Having removed the tatty remnants of the original soundproof/insulation blanket from my defenders bonnet I went looking for a replacement. You can get copies of the black mat (part # AWR4147) from Britpart (£80 ish) but I wanted something a bit betterer and looked at various ebay offerings...

I don't sell the kits anymore but DoDo 7mm Bonnet Liner and the alluminium tape is still available.

That is a great job there. I'm reluctant to stick stuff down again after getting all that sticky stuff off, but it may be the only option. I'll keep searching for now. Out of interest, I assume none of it has peeled off in the heat...if it's seen any heat that is.

Surely you are only deadening the sound to the outside world.
Does it make that much difference in the cab?
Would have thought bulkhead insulation/sound deadening would be the best investment?

Our little "mudball" has none. although its a petrol. Yes it rattles and has wind noise (must remove the 1m digger bucket and jerry can in the back)
But I really don't think under bonnet would make a difference to the driving noise? Does it?

Guilty as charged, m'lud...

OP, I also Dynamatted the footwells, new floors, behind seat bulkhead and all three doors + added 10mm thick closed cell neoprene foam to floors and footwells. Mine's a soft top and they're much quieter than tintops. I really recommend doing this as the Ninety is the quietest 200Tdi on planet earth.
