It will take the 'dwang' out the bonnet and does improve the sound (dampen the engine noise) outside the car, I didn't envisage a drop of noise in the cab specifically although it does make a bit of difference. My bulkhead is insulated inside and out and I can tell the difference with the bonnet open or closed. When it's closed the main source of noise comes from the exhaust which moves forwards when the bonnet is open. My girlfriend said the car sounds quieter (actually she said "less rattly"), when I get back from shooting @ 2am now the bonnet is insulated. Which for me wins ....

for previous classics it's a similar thing, sure it knocks a bit of noise off but mainly stops rattles and that tin sound a bit. Let me be clear, I'm running without it and will be until I find something that fits my budget, so I'm not that fussed about it. Before that, I need to find the felt inserts for the rear windows that clack around like a prick in a top hat. So noise is not a concern, otherwise I would not have bought a 1984 land rover. I think the previous owner had some silly ideas, eg; the steering was a bit 'heath robinson' when I picked it up, when I got her up on the ramp, the big nut on the end of the steering arm was loose. The bend washer was dinged over but both sides were bent to the nut! Which mean the nut was slowly undoing, so things like that and the goop driping from the bonnet tells me there's a few more hidden gems to find.
I will probably take the bonnet off and repaint the 'B' side in time. My singer has a small wire frame that holds a material sheet in place, I like to think it keeps the engine warm

I think getting there initially is quite hard, but keeping it at that level is bloody difficult.

Not sure if series and 90 are the same, but the series 3 owners club used to do plastic replacements for the rear sliding window track, fitted them to me s2 years ago.

That's interesting, may go for that if I can't find the felt. Mine has the rubbers, but the glass is loose.

My s2 was originally rubber/felt, the felt fell out and the rubber fell to bits.
Might to pay to ask them, the forum is called s3 and 90/110 owners club, so they will certainly know.
I did think it would rattle like hell being plastic, but no issues at all.
Top one screwed in as per original, bottom tracks sikaflex, but I would say any PU sealant will do.
