Black smoke on putting my foot down

Ooops!
Oh dear!
If it was fitted by the manufacturer it is mandatory to leave it on. (See Gov.uk MOT testers manual)
Most of us who delete them, and I am one of those, get away with it either cos the tester cannot be assed to look for one, or simply can't see it cos it is hidden under the engine cover.
Evidently it passed its emissions test every time cos they don't test for that.
EGR is there to allow an inert gas to be added to the combustion to reduce Peak combustion temps and reduce Nox emissions. The MoT does not test for Nox.

"Then, the engine is turned on. Once exhaust starts being emitted, the machine tests for:

Hydrocarbons (HC)
Nitrogen oxide (NOx)
Particulate matter (PM) in diesel vehicle exhaust
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Air to fuel ratio (for engine efficiency)"
Seems like it might be.

So what if you had two vulnerable oldies in your family? When I took food to my parents I wore a mask to help stop then getting something from me, it made me feel better. Certainly didn't spend my whole day wearing one.
While this is indeed a Land Rover forum you are also allowed to talk about whatever you like in the appropriate section.
Also I think it was reasonably well known that a mask doesn't stop the person wearing it from catching an infection.
All the same it sounds like I should maybe wear one behind your Land Rover maybe?
Whatever

I posted on another thread my experience the other day where a D head ****ed off my local MOT tester who is a really decent bloke and would never be unfair. You could get yourself into a situation where you end up going to a testing station where there are a bunch of jobsworths working. In this case the bloke had come back for retest and a service, he had bought some ball joint boots and got annoyed cos they wouldn't fit them as they had had too many experiences where peeps had bought sh!t ones from China for them to fit that didn't do the job and then came back and moaned at them. So, yep, he ffed off to another testing station. We all laughed as we knew he wouldn't get better service anywhere else and any work he paid for would be more expensive.

Not saying you would deliberately p"ss any one off, but it could happen.

If we put a vehicle in for work we usually get the garage to supply the part, there is no argument about liability then.
I have kept all the EGR stuff for both vehicles I have taken it off just in case the law changes and they are made to look for it.
Good idea, it's bound to change in the future with all the ecomentalist stuff going on
