So, whilst I have the temporary crappy seat ibiza today as i wait for the missus' insignia to come back from being repaired after she drove into a tractor :rolleyes: she has my nice shiny 4 month old 110 puma. :mad:

Anyway, told her to set off early for work and just take it easy and carefully... 20 minutes later I get a phone call, she was over taking a van and the back end decided to start going all over the shop like a pendulum. Thankfully i've tought her something as she didn't brake and drove through it then came to a controlled stop and thankfully the van driver was a sensible bloke, backed off, gave her space then checked she was ok :cool:

My assumption is that it was just the wind tunnel affect between the 110 and the van causing the back end to go all over the place rather than a fault in anyway, but, anyone know any better?

(She is coming off my insurance at Christmas, I'm a nervous wreck whenever she takes any of my toys out :eek:)
 
That doesn't sound right to me. Normally you get a swing one way as you get to the back of what you're overtaking, and then swing back the other way as you clear its front. Vice versa when being overtaken.

I'd start by checking tyre pressures.
 
Or there could of been something on the road like diesel....I bloody hate diesel when im on the motorbike but it does tend to wake you up!

checked tyre pressures yesterday and they were all fine then, but, i will re-check when i get home.

I've never had any problems, but, then, i never had any problems with the d3 yet the one day she took it to work half the windscreen trim came off the outside of the landy. I just don't know what she does to them :rolleyes:
 
Start with tyre pressures, including the front!

No stupid loads or towing trailers I trust, next thing I'd check is a quick lift of the wheels and check wheel bearings, then start levering bushes about, trailing arms, A-link, shock mounts etc etc.

It could easily have been, as you said earlier, air pressure differences caused a wobble and she may have over-corrected to start with, which won't have helped .. not her fault, mind, different vehicles, different steering 'feel' etc.

Might be worth you taking it out to an empty carpark or somewhere and trying to induce a wobble, you might have more of a clue than her description of what happened. Juliet's great at telling me something's wrong, but can't tell me whether it's front or back or any technical stuff ....

Glad she's OK though mate .. look after her .. :)
 
Agree with what Paul suggests^^^^^^^^^^^, but surely if its only four months old it shouldn't have knackered any bushes and suchlike yet?

Does your missus know what it should drive like?
 
Cheers guys. Yeah she's driven it a few times and came on a Landy experience day driving one last week, so, she knows how they drive.

I would have hoped at 4 months old nothing would be amiss, but, i'll give it a good check over tonight - i'm out laning later anyway so should be able to find a quiet country road to give it a little wobble on.
