LandRover seem to be ignoring my query about engine warranties... I've contacted them directly and also sent an email to the local main dealer... Nothing but radio silence...
I must admit, i wouldnt have expected LR to honour any failure of an engine with 90k. Mine was a LR replacement & dropped a liner after approx 70k & it never occured to me to pursue LR. Good luck though. It would be a result if they offer anything, but it would still cost you even if they offer 50% it would mean a new engine fitted by them so the cost would still be much higher to you than sticking in a used engine.

It won't be quick. Wouldn't be surprised if they run it past the legal team first for a carefully worded fob off. That's why you need legalese for the response so they know you are serious.

It has a part dealer service record from new, then a bit blank, then an authorised LandRover service centre service record from my ownership.

Please forgive me if I am wrong, but seeing as you did law, wouldn't LR have a reasonable doubt as to how the engine has been treated during the run in period till you had it serviced by a LR agent ?
If they fitted it and then didn't see it again for XL miles surely that would give them a legal get out clause, I have bought 2 new vehicles and both required stealership servicing at set intervals, the run in period being when you couldn't go over so many revs for x miles then a few more, then a few more revs.
Just saying before you spend more money going down the legal route. That could cost more than a new engine.

As far as I can see the legal system has a shed load of grey in it, one of the reasons this PPI bull**** is still rolling and NHS hospital claims are nudging £4bn a year.

Sure there was a case a while back where somebody bought a luxury car, didn't ever take it back to be serviced, attempted a warranty claim and lost.
The PPI is because of wording in the contract, and the forced sale, take out this insurance and we will give you the loan, don't and we won't. Nhs is because the govt is an complete ass!

you can get an M62 engine on ebay with 70k warrantied with all ancillaries for 1700 delivered, or about 800 as a bare engine delivered.
if I recall SaintV8 had a few engine issues which he invested time and money into resolving. it just seems that this replacement L322 engine hasn't been as expected. any knowledge why the original engine was replaced ?
maybe a previous owner just treated it like crap, just put fuel in and drove it.

PPI was because they didn't keep records of who they sold it to so couldn't prove otherwise. An odd case of guilty until proven innocent, possibly to give the tax-payer something back after bailing the whole sector out.
Hospitals employ doctors, not lawyers. It is like shooting fish in a barrel and they know it.
Take your point though. 90k miles with a gap in the history is not a good starting point. But negotiations have to start somewhere. As long as there is dialogue there's a chance of getting something.

At the moment I am having issues with an engine rebuilder and am thinking I will have to resort to legal measures to get satisfaction does any one know a layer that would handle this kind of case?

A simple letter from any solicitor mentioning breach of contract will usually suffice.
