I think you mean "S & M" were the specific codes used on that particular engine in that particular car.

It got put through its paces, then stood in a paddock for a year in all the weather, needed a jump on the battery but started first time and kept going. Think it was a 1.6? Petrol, no good for loads of wood but for a few bales up a mountain or bit of fencing they do okay
