when I was younger my first pickup was $3017.20 now they are $32,000. Where the hell did the random prices increase come from.
Point taken!

My gag reflex is terrible.
Don't ask how I know that...
Ski Carriage | Ski Delivery | Ski Transport | Transporting Skis | Baggage Allowance | Ski France | Low Cost Ski Carriage
This is more like it! Dig deep into Google and I shall be happy saving about £70. Obviously I'll look more into it, but this is a promising lead.

I share your pain!!!!
We normally have 4 in the car and drive. But as this year we are traveling with our 20month old baby I am told we are flying!!! Managed to get some easy jet flights, decided not to take ski's and hire when out there. Using several million avios points to have a night in a hotel in Innsbruck as flight in is on a Friday and also to pay for hiring the car.
We normally leave with a full tank and need 2 fuel stops to get there. That is usually 900miles. Stop at a friends in Brussels overnight on the way and use the ferry as it is cheaper and for us a 3.5hour drive to Dover, so eat on Ferry, ready to dash when we get off!! Coming home on several occasions have left at 9am, drove all day to get to Calais, rest on Ferry then drive home. Quite a trek but with 4 in the car and all our own kit is has meant we where able to take trips with my older kids that we would not have been able to do with flying.
If going for a week then drive and enjoy the adventure with an overnight stop somewhere that is on route to make it more than just a ski trip!!!
[S, Ryanair a bloody brilliant, £25 Poitiers to Stanstead. It's the fecking idiots that ignore the T&C's than bitch like spoilt 2 year olds that are depressing.
I was not refering to you specifically, but the number of people who condemn Ryanair when it's their own fault for not checking the T&C's is amazing, shouting & screaming at the check in staff over the permitted size of cabin luggage, or not having printed the boarding pass etc etc. It's not bitching like a two y.o, it's asking for advice to make life cheaper. Yes, the method of transporting them is riskier, but, I will make further enquiries into it and make an educated buy into it.
If saving £70 is such a bad thing, send me your money.
Not worth paying tolls to use the autoroutes in a Defender, they are too slow for it to be worthwhile, better to use the N routes which are freeAlso when flying there are other hidden cost, airport parking, resort transfers etc.
If you are going to France by car you also need to factor in toll charges as they can mount up!!

You obviously didn't check and in terms of the overall cost of a skiing holiday the charge for your ski's is not a lot.
How heavy is a snowboard?
