To be honest from the outside everything looks mint as it's been looked after but in guessing under the surface I'll probably find some rot. I'm going to attempt to respray the lot myself aswel!!

If there was anything major you would have seen it by now. Mine was wrotten!

Have you got any pics of how the bulkhead is attached. I'll be painting my new bulkhead tomorrow so want to put it on as soon as I can. Iv never took one off before so Iv no idea how it's attached to the chassis. I did buy some chassis to bulkhead brackets a while back.

It's just two big bolts through the front outriggers (M12 x 180mm from memory)
Then the brackets you mention bolt to the footwell and to the chassis which allow you to tilt the bulkhead back and forth when aligning the door gaps.
No pictures unfortunately.

That makes sense to me. Going to go spray it soon so might be able to fit it to the chassis tomorrow

Your using 2k yes? Will certainly be dry enough to fit by tomorrow morning.

Yeah I used 2k, I painted the galvanised brackets that attach it to the chassis in rustoloum and Iv found that it takes a few days to fully dry so probably won't fit it until mid week.

I've noticed rustoleum reacts easily with other paints.

Fair comment, but if you're wanting to get it fitted it will be fine just on the outrigger mounts, sure I had the same situation when I did mine last year bud.

Got the body back from the paint shop yesterday.

It looks really good, though haven't unpacked all of it.

They've painted the underside with stone chip and then underside of the wheel arches they've painted the body colour, so you can see it past the road wheel when it's together. I had planned just to dinitrol it

The panels I've opened and had a look at all look great.

This is just the underside of the roof as it was propped up against the wall by the time I took a few pics.

Hoped to get the new brake discs on yesterday too, but the rear ones were hard to split from the hubs, so ran out of time. Had to go to a mates to drink beer. Just got the rear ones done.

£1500. But they have done a lot of work on it that I didn't expect. For example, you can't tell that it has galv tub and corner cappings. They are totally smooth. They said they kept putting high build primer on and smoothing it down. He insisted I took it back once it was altogether, so they could 'polish it all in'. I wasn't sure what he meant so I just agreed! He said he wasn't bothered if I took another year, I had to take it back. They seemed bothered about polishing in the plastic arches. Reckoned they would be able to do a better job once they were clipped to the wings. They've stone chipped the bottom few inches of the rear wings too, then put the red over the top. He said it would make it a bit tougher. They painted the inside of the roof too. They've bead sealed the new floor all around, including the little gaps in the bottom right and left corners where the floor meets the thresh and quarter panels. They even repaired the quarter panel seem that I wrecked, it looks great now. They seemed very keen and genuinely interested in the job and proud of what they had done. It took three of them an hour to pack it in the van, they were being that careful

They also said they would touch in any scratches I caused when putting it together. They gave me some silicon free polish, so If I wanted to polish it before I took it back they wouldn't have the silicon to remove to get any touch ups needed to stick.
Everything is still in bubblewrap really, so hopefully it's all as good when I get it out. So far, I'm happy that I've got value for money. First paint job I've ever had done, though, so I may be being naive.

That seems like some top quality service for that price mate. i know lots of body shops arnt that keep on doing jobs like this, they like to have the full car and not lots of indervidual parts. I bet you can't wait to get assembling it all now!!

On one hand I would like to get a body shop to do mine but on the other hand I want to do as much of it as I can myself.

wow thats nice and the price is good ,parts painting is easier as regards no masking up ,but a bugger on space to hang paint then dry ,as u know a stripped lanny can take up alot of room ,,be up n out by august then lol

Absolutely, I've got the calipers to bolt on and the brake lines to put in. fuel tank and pipe work. This is where inexperience slows you down though. I'm planning on fitting the brake pipes before I put the body on as I'm thinking it'll be far easier with the open access. I suppose I'll have to put the bulkhead on though to fit the servo and so the brake pipes. It's what to put on first! I just need a plan that's all.

On one hand I would like to get a body shop to do mine but on the other hand I want to do as much of it as I can myself.

I know what you are saying and I did consider a poly tunnel etc myself, just to keep some of the costs down. Scare stories of the paint wrecking your lungs in 10 years time put me off. Plus, I thought I would do a poor job.

Ha ha, the dining room is totally packed with all the body sections. I wish it would be done by August, Gatso!

First rebuild tho, so inexperience and worrying about getting it right will slow me down. As well as making mistakes! I'll get there tho! Might need a lot of help from off here

Got the front discs replaced this afternoon. Bearings on all four corners felt smooth and I couldn't detect any movement whatsoever on them, which is one less thing to have to replace.

Dude, that looks amazing.

After looking at how shiny that it I really want to get mine resprayed now.

Not a bad cost at all considering. I would have expected more for a finish like that.
