So update time again people :)
And a much better day than I expected.
Other than the fact one of the batteries has died for my impact gun

So first thing to do was pull the wiring loom out. Came out really easy and actually looks in ok condition. Well the bit inside the chassis any way. Back end has been fecked about with abit but I can sort that.

Removed all brake pipes. Disconnected flexi's from chassis.

Removed shock turrets. And unbolted trailing and radius arms.

Next job was to start striping stuff of the axles.
Main thing was to get them on to axle stands and get the wheels off.
Which I did plus removed a few other bits.

One radius arm was left on, As one of the bolts is just spinning. I recon its seized to the bush sleeve. But will sort that next week.

And a nice pile of bits to be cleaned and painted. Of which there is going to be many more

Hopefully I can get rid of the chassis next weekend as it's currently taking a lot of room up in the garage.
I guess the best thing is to scrap the chassis?

let us know what you get for it if you don't mind.

Im considering going down the calf chassis route in the summer and ill be trying to weigh all the scrap bits in.

How do you go about swapping the chassis numbers over to a new galv one?

Yeah I'll let you know. Provided I don't end up working Saturday.

And a galv chassis comes without numbers, I suppose they would be able to stamp them before galvanizing. But I don't know if this is some thing they offer.
Personally I'll just leave mine without. And keep the dumb iron off the old chassis as proof.

Bloody hell you're shifting now mate :)

What's the halfway plan.?!

Well the strip down was the easy bit :p

Need to do a big list of bits I need. But I'm **** with part numbers and finding them :( This may take me a while.

Need to phone Richards and see if there's a waiting time etc. As I don't want the chassis here until I've got the axles ready to go on.

I was told it was a 10 week wait but it got to me in less than 4. As for the chassis scrap, personally I am cutting the section with the VIN number off to keep and scrapping the rest.

Bloody hell I hope it isn't that long
Suppose I best ring them asap.

Ordered my marshland from paddocks on a Thursday, was delivered the following Thursday about £1400 delivered, td5 rear x member as standard and includes galvanised gearbox x member

That's more like it :p
Does yours have the td5 tank mounts as well then?
And how do they do the delivery? Nothing mentioned on paddocks website.

Some old guy turned up in a sprinter, they just say there needs to be 2 guys your end, delivery was £160+vat not sure, there is loads of mounting points for all sorts of stuff! More than my old one

Ah fair enough. Not rang any one yet. Should hopefully get time tomorrow.

Well managed to get a couple of hours in tonight.

Got the front axle striped down. Every thing came undone surprisingly easy :)

Although the o/s swivel had water in it. So now the cv is very rough and hard to move

And a pile of axle bits that need refurbing and painting. Should keep me busy for a while

Hoping to get the back axle stripped tomorrow. And both casings cleaned up ready for paint. Not that I've got any yet

Oh and I think the chassis will be going to the scrap yard tomorrow. Any thing worth keeping off it? Other than the dumb iron.

This was my thoughts to be honest. But then I thought am I just being a tight ####

Think I'll cut 'em of in the morning.

Haha!!!!!

No it's definitely worth removing them matey!! With a bit of luck you might have your bright shiner new chassis when I pop down. :)

What paint do you use on the axel.?! I'm looking at cleaning mine up and painting them. Hopefully I will be getting a replacement rear sooner or later. :)

possibly. Although I haven't rang any one yet. Need to pull my finger out and get it sorted

And I'm going to have a look up and see what other people use paint wise as I'm not sure at the mo. Will be brushing them instead of spraying them this time though.

Yeah you want something strong and durable. I was going to paint mine in Por15 and then apply a coat of coach paint over the top. Now im just about thinking about using Por15 and them giving them a good covering in waste oil! :)

If por15 wasn't so expensive I would use it. I really cant afford that sort of money for paint. It's not like it's just a bit either. I'm going to need bloody loads.
