I decided to change the oil in the gearbox on my defender. Draining was no problem then i came to deciding how to fill it up. This is what i came up with. Get a 5 litre plastic bottle wih a lid, alos get a 1.5m ish length of 10mm bore or there abouts plastic pipe. Drill a hole in the lid of the container so the pipe will only just go through. The glue the pipe in, for this i used evo stick impact stuff. Then put the required amount of oil into the bottle put the lid on, pplace the other end of the pipe into the filler hole and turn the bottle so the lid is at the bottom. The oil will then flow into the gearbox, it will be slow but it gives you time to change diff oils and the like. Also punch a hole into the top of the bottle so a vacuum isn't formed. Heres a couple of pictures.

Looks like a blood transfusion:D:D

Maybe some of you guys know how to do it, but i can't find anything when i searched and it uses stuff that people will have lying around so it makes it cheap. So i thought it was worth sharing. Tell me if its not and i'll not bother posting any other things.

dont get stressed out mate you helped me.

i always used to take my gearbox out and put it on my black and decker workmate with a spirit level on top so i was sure it was level.

good idea mate and welcome..

Im pretty certain he is not fur real

Thanks Eddy I usually struggle with 1L containers and get it everywhere. I am however too lazy for cutting and glueing. ow well!

Oilsafe pumps are nice, but the whole set up is expensive. Not got to the point in my life yet where these seem a viable option.
