Yes I will do. Won't be home for a few more weeks then it goes to a mechanic for a once over as I am clueless when it comes to that side of it. Might take you up on the paintwork, the plan was to use coach paint. Where about are you?

It all depends on your budget I guess and how you want it to look at the end. I'm in Burnley, about 20 minutes down the a59 from Preston.

Lack of updates recently due to lack of time really. I've been trying to get my head around the wiring. most of the wires weren't in the right place when they got removed so they need to be sorted one at a time. Spent a few hours today doing some building up...

As it is I've got one wing on and the windscreen surround loosely bolted up. Seat box is on after running new wires to the diff lock switch, rear cappings are on and my new (£10) heater box that I have painted is sat in place.

The wiring down the wings have been made so that they can be unplugged and removed with the wing if it ever has to be taken off. A lot easier than trying to squeeze your hand up the inside and get the wires out of the clips and then feed it through. I've used 6 pin waterproof plugs and the NS wiring connects just next to the heater box

I'm on the hunt for the part of the gearbox tunnel that bolts to the bulkhead in the cab if anyone knows of one. I think £50ish on eBay for one that needs attention is steep.

So this week has seen me paint the side panels and my front (larger) radiator surround

I've sat the side panels on with new L shape brackets at the rear and they seem to sit very high.

So much so that i fit the seal to the inside of the panel with the top of the seal stuck to the underneath of the channel it sits in and it's absolutely nowhere near sitting on the tub itself so I took it off and will have to start again with it. I think I'm going to have to elongate some holes and get everything sitting a lot better but I'm hesitant to do so without sitting the roof on and maybe the back door.

Then on Friday evening and Saturday i provided a 3rd set of hands for an engine change in a disco 1 300tdi, first time I've done anything along these lines and it went swimmingly. She was up and running before Saturday tea time :D

Hopefully this week will see more progress on the 90! Dare I say I'll paint the roof and get that on

Unfortunately haven't been around on here for the past month. But I have kept progress up with the Landy, albeit not as much as I would like. We are very busy at work so I've been cramming in the overtime .

So I've managed to get the roof painted, flatted down and polished and then fit along with fitting the windscreen.

When I bought it none of the lights worked and none of the dash board lights worked. However I'm pleased to say that it all now works (I think). The only issue I'm having is with the fuel gauge. The light comes on when the sender moves to the bottom which is correct, however the fuel gauge itself reads 3/4-full tank constantly. With very little movement when you move the sender arm. It's a brand new sender unit, and I've tested the gauge with a 12v feed, it increases as a normal gauge would, so I don't get what the issue is?

Anyway here is a picture of the back, with all lights fit and my rear windows which I have tinted.

I have clear lenses to go on all of the lights hence why I have two reverse lights, the fog light will have a red bulb.

Finally I've got the other wing on with the wiring all attached via a new plug and I've had to modify one of the air con front grill panels to get it to fit right. Next week will see more building up and painting no doubt.

If anyone has any ideas about the sender then please say :D

No idea on the sender, but the paint job looks great - yellow touches are smart. More a traditionalist myself but can't argue with how good it looks!

Thanks. I'm going to be helping a friend with a series 3 in the near future and he wants to keep things original, or as original as possible whilst improving practicality. It's all personal preference I guess

I like how you said the lights don't work then posted pics of a full body off resto!
I guess the perfectionist painter in you won't allow the slightest "age related" ding that every series should have? It does look amazing though.

Keep up the good work, can I send a RRC to you for. Holiday

It had a few issues, all of the paint was blistering, and the bulkhead was severely rotten and filled with expanding foam . So it needed plenty of work. I haven't filled every single dent, a few people have told me to leave some character to it. It was always the intention to repaint it though I guess.

Haha 'holiday'

Made some progress over this week or so.

Primed and Painted the wheel arches, bonnet and front vent flaps.

Test fitted my new headlight which I've now sent back as I only ordered one by accident and they didn't have a second one in stock to send me

And tonight I've fit my newly painted chequer plate and front indicators and sidelights with clear lenses. All that's needed for the front end now is the headlights and it'll be as good as done.

The roof is definitely black, just very dusty :p

Soooooo some more progress. It is a bit of a slow burner as paying work is taking priority outside of my day job but I feel as though I'm a lot closer.

Eventually managed to get the rock sliders and the rear cross member painted in gloss black, the rock sliders are pitted with rust but at the end of the day they're only used as a step and to prevent damage if off roading, so I couldn't justify filling them, but I'm happy with how they came out.

A friends dad also polished the 'step' up for me and they look spot on now! They were badly tarnished before hand. No pictures of before though sorry!

The front headlights are wired in with a relay to control the day time running lights. They come on when the relay senses the alternator running, they dim down when headlights are turned on as the law states, they stay on for 15 seconds when the engine is turned off as a 'follow me home feature' and they also have an indicator. I might take away the small round indicator altogether what do we think?

The front wheel arches are on

And here are a couple more pictures of how she currently looks..

I'm just on with getting the back door prepped and painted, and I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy two new non genuine front doors as I can't find any decent second hand ones, also need to get a steering wheel and boss, part of the gearbox tunnel, paint the back of the chassis, rear springs, radius arms, back arches, new exhaust, sort the speakers/stereo and a few other small issues with the dash lights and probably a few other things that I've forgotten about.

Cheers!
