2a will not engage any gear in high but in low it´s fine

Hello,
My LR 2a will not engage any gear in high(two wheel drive). It just scratches a bit at the most. But if I engage 4-wheel drive its not problem to drive of. What could be the problem? The only thing I´ve done recently is filling up the gearbox with oil(maybe I overfilled it just a bit).

If it works in low and not high the problem sounds like a rear half shaft These are easy to remove and check. Could be high range tooth is completely chewed up but you'd know if you had managed that.

The other thing is to jack up the front so both wheels are in the air put it in low and try driving forward. If only the front is spinning the problem lies at the rear.

Try high range with 4wd engaged. Almost certainly rear halfshaft

Pull out the halfshafts to see if ones broken. Replace. That's about it

They usually break at the differential end, the shafts are not expensive to replace.

i had one recently and the drive pinion in the salisbury axle was completely ground off, thought salisbury axle's were bomb proof
