What is the best price for 255/55/r19 generals

I have used these on my p38 and my shogun sport and the are awesome in the mud/snow and motorway driving is fine too.

Now with winter shortly around the corner! I am looking to fit them to my l322

Best price and location/name of supplier please:)
 
be interested in this too been thinking about a set for my p38 , 255 55 18 are whats on the 18" hurricanes at mo, would i need same size ?

hijack- but are there any other half decent alternatives a bit cheaper than the grabbers ?

Had 18 inch grabbers on the shogun sport!
24 k miles and still 10 mm of tread on them when I selt it!
Awesome tyre, worth the money
 
I fitted AT to my old freelander
Will never do it again !

Not worth the compromise in handling, especially with the weight of an L322

And they where GG AT2's :S
 
Noticed in the wet handling was pretty Poor and the road noise from them was unpleasant IMO

My summer tyres never got me stuck at all in last years snows

Unless of course your using it for going off road or something ?

That said, my old landlord rocked AT2s on his Disco4 and he said they was much better than the scorps that came on it. But then he was a massive tool who'd drive at 60 on ice and expect the computers to keep him out of a ditch. Suffice to say his Disco spent a lot of time in the garage getting fixed. So I wouldn't take what he said as the gospel.

The scorps had hardly been broken in when he binned them too. I bet the tyre place he used resold them as they were virtually brand new.

I'm currently running Kumho Road Venture and so far they haven't let me get stuck in snow or copious amount of mud so I'd say they've out performed themselves, given they are primarily road tyres, I imagine there are much better options for offroad use, but they are plenty good enough for my needs. Sure I'll change my tune when I do get stuck.
 
on my p38, i have pirelli scorps at the moment, 2 need replacing mind, but £170 a pop or whatever i find a bit steep :eek:

so im looking for a pair of something to go on, or maybe a set of modulars with grabbers, or just grabbers for the hurricanes
 
Had scores,BFGs kumho,michelins,
General grabbers are the best tyre for my needs!

They are hard wearing and last for ever, unlike the BFGs,s.

I pull a horse trailer with the car and the scores become useless on wet grass that has inclines.
Kumho are a good tyre and the michelins are ok but the grabbers, take me shooting thru some serious mud. They last for ever, they look great, and the road noise isn't that bad!
 
TB, which grabbers? the "old" AT2 or the newer AT design? I'm on Cooper Discoverer M+S right now and they are good on snow but are almost gone... I need something all-round and good enough on the snow, as we get quite some of the stuff here in the winter and my poverty-spec doesn't have TC... :)

I'd expect the heavier the better. Most P38 owners on here with GG AT2's say they perforrm brilliantly all round, including me.

Maybe the Freelander was too light for them? :confused:

I'd definately look at the AT2 replacements when the times comes... but after 2 yrs still loads of tread left yet, so no good excuse to change.
 
Perhaps it says more for the P38's sound isolation than it does for the tyre, but the GG ATs on my car are as quiet as a mouse. The grip levels in all conditions are exemplary - easily the best AT tyres I have ever used. They are not summer sports tyres and nor should you expect them to grip like them but they are very good. Particularly so in the snow. I had the older versions on my classic and these seem to be much, much better.

As for summer tyres in the snow, good luck! A couple of winters ago I was towing cars out of my company carpark with a front wheel drive car on all-season tyres - including an Audi RS4 who was going nowhere with all four wheels spinning uselessly on his sporty rubber.
 
I've just had new GG UHP's on my P38 (255/65/R16). £408 for four fitted. AJS tyres in Surrey.

I went for these as I will be doing more road driving than off road.

I must admit they are so much better than the old Pirelli/GG AT combination I got when I bought the car.

Yes that's what I found, had them fitted to my Shogun sport for 2 years( 24 k miles) and still loads of tread,
Bloody good tyre:D
 
so what 16" wheel options are there for the p38 ? can you get steel modulars that fit ? or what would be another cheap ytype option to look for used wheels, i local pick up/breaker style ones i can get cheap and buy some new 16" grabbers ?

£600 for a set of 18" tyres :eek::eek:
