Hi, Dave here, I have a 2016 3ltr Disco 4 SDV6, just recently it has started a noise like a chain rattle , the rattle is coming from the front of the left bank at the top when looking at the engine bay from the front of the disco. 70,000 miles ago i had both manifolds replaced and at the same time replaced the cam belts ,definitely sounds like a chain rattle and not the belt. Looking at images of an SDV6 engine, as well as the cambelts there seems to be small chains around the camshafts, My thinking is it could be the one on the left and the tensioner is slack. If I am thinking along the right lines, is it a hard job to replace these chains and is it expensive. I live in Thanet kent and would welcome recommendations from this trusted site with regards having the work done locally..
Thanks in advance.

You might like to try Terrain Vehicles at St.Leonards, just the other side of Hastings. I don't know of anyone nearer. I'm just outsdie Ashford and it's about an hour's trip to there for me.

Quite a bit of work to get at the chain and tensioner, but the parts are not dear at all.
If the rattle is only there on a cold start no need to panic yet, if it is there all the time then it needs looking at asap.
Of course it will mean new cambelts again.
