Changed the transmission cooler on the sport, was a bit fiddly as is partly behind intercooler, dropped the fluid, and refilled also changed the engine oil and filter, waiting for camera to turn up so I can refit tailgate parts then can road test
To be honest expecting to change tcm going by other modules conditions have found a company that can clone mine so hopeful that will solve issue if needed, only other code refers to instrument cluster communications so going to send away to ecutesting.com for repair/heathcheck
Been Back on D3 motor in, landed on lefthand mount nut on, lift motor slightly, right hand mount on next lower then top nut on, gearbox sitting on cross member and a block of wood at this point, engine earth back on, then alternator, pipework next made a start, will route it then drop in rad pack, tomorrow transfer box if it's fine otherwise back on engine all the best

New reversing camera arrived had code u0055-87 cluster communication, but no image module faults, so anyway fitted camera and wrapped trim
Held breath, camera worked straight out of box, cleared codes, instrument cluster fault gone for first time since I've owned it, camera must have been disrupting can bus? but will take it as a victory
Expecting other codes to pop up will see but so far so good
Back on D3 today, finished coolent pipes fitted radiator connecting from bottom up putting on clamps when I have the routing right, then drop in bottom shroud, you can the clip pipes into shroud from underneath, slam panel and wiring from right hand light area to horn, then header tank, connecting as you lower it in, also did egrs and throttle body, only ducts and fan left at front
Next job is coolant cross over pipe and wiring, battery box area, should finish this tomorrow
Just underneath to do, and an oil and filter change
Hope you all have an easy transition back into work, all the best

Awesome mate and so pleased for u that you’ve made some fantastic progress

Thks for sharing as so nice seeing different projects and what will or won’t work out of the box

Think we’ve become so accustomed to having to use a scanner it’s a surprise when some things are plug and play , thks for the heads up

Hope ur making good progress with the projects ur. Currently doing

Feel is amazing how well u pick things up practically over the years

Was only thinking the other day of my beloved pops showing me how to replace the points , condenser etc along with how important the HT leads being put in there correct firing order on the dizzy calll

Following with great interest and as a side note been looking at some of the newer discovery’s and how they compare , as in what extra tech they have

Mainly was concentrating on the suspension of the D5’s in how there now electrically controlled , so impressive how they monitor each one in turn at the speed that they do

Yep I need to get out more 🤣

must confess would be a tough choice between a 5.0 D4 or a ie6 D5 , lol, oh well nice to dream I suppose as I think there both lovely motors

Think the newest 5.0 D4 I’ve seen was a 2013 so even they are getting old being a min of 12 x years old

Sorry as digressing as per usual , keep up the great work my friend

Hi mate many thanks for help and pointers on sport, definitely can find you a cheap D5 when I can talk you into one, been suprising how well it's gone so far keeping fingers crossed Lol did get a 1500 mile adblue warning followed by a nox fault code have no experience with adblue simply put in 8L of the redex type and seems code has gone
Will drive and keep checking see what happens
D3 just about ready fitted transfer box, and wiring runs down from top of left hand side of gearbox loops round back and along right hand side going to the oil filter and auxiliary heater pump also remembered to plug trans breather tube then fitted front pipe, front prop, cross member, rear prop, connect fuel lines, gearbox linkage, and a few heat shields
Changing oil and filter, and filling transfer box with new rock oil D3 but couldn't find any power steering fluid so will pick some up in morning and start her up at long last all the best

Ur so very welcome mate in being able to help here and there where I can

Massive respect as you’ve made a huge amount of progress

Wonder if the adblue injector is blocking up and the redex has helped clear it out as heard they block up

Wonder if it done short journeys before and see reports of the dpf blocking up along with the adblue wheee it can’t do a complete regen

Indeed would be lovely having a d5 , must confess really like the d4 5.0 but wow there in the 25-30k range so well out my pocket , plus the newest ones are around 2013 so starting to get on now , also insurance is even higher with them being an import , min quote as I was curious is over 1500 so silly money

With the d5 from what I’ve read the ones 2018 onwards are suppose to be nice that have the ie6 patrol engines , supposed to be updated on the body and a few engine mods when check improve things , also didn’t realise they have the supercharger on them instead of a regular turbo , ins for them are around 600 so a huge difference

Maybe one day one might come up that has an electrical fault ,

Hope things are going well mate and that the weather is also helping seeing the warmer weather is here

Massive respect once again mate and thks as always sharing the project with us and look forward how u get on

You never know been some cheap projects out there mate was a damaged svr on evilbay but went within a few hours
Did all bits as last post on D3, initially wouldn't start, let a little more air out of shrader valve and off it went, sounds fine no leaks, well so far anyway, changed prop as centre bearing was shot luckily had a nearly new one so used that
Just a few heat shields to put back, and recheck transmission fluid level,
Sport seems ok again so far, no warnings but not sure am down completely to bottom of all issues but will see, still have various service stuff and generally check over has a slight vibration going to get wheels balanced and tracking while I'm there, as starting point
Enjoy the sunshine all

An svr u say , I wonder what would to quicker that or my driving licence for speeding , lol

Drooling with the thought of opening one up through a tunnel , yeh I know I need to get out more 🤣

As a side note would be interesting to see as to what everyone would chose a petrol 3.0 D5 or a petrol 5.0 D4, can just imagine the D4 with a full janspeed tubular manifold and exhaust

Apart from the above I can’t really think of anything else , have read some articles that the D6 will be very similar to the D3/4 body shape , but alas can’t see it happening

Did see this the other day ref defender sport

Sorry back to reality, lol , indeed never know a project may turn up in the future

Blimey mate that has indeed perished , remind me of the FL 1 vcu in how they deteriorated , bet u was jumping for joy after bleeding out the small amount of air from the fuel line , would never had thought such a small amount of air could stop it starting , assume the fuel pump was cavitation like a central heating pump

So pleased that after all ur hard work things are coming together and just need the snagging items to be done

Know in the past it’s a huge sigh of relief when things are done in order to move onto other things

That’s annoying with the vibration but as u say about starting to get them balanced and go from there

As always mate hats off to u in all the work that you’ve sorted out over the many months , know I wouldn’t have been able to do half what you’ve achieved that’s for sure

Plus 1 , enjoy the sunshine and look forward to ur progress and thks again for sharing this very informative thread
