Hi everyone,

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. I just bought a 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 and it has an "eco" button on the dash. This lights up when I start the car, but then goes off, if I press it I get a message saying "eco stop/start fault". I'm confused for two reasons really. Firstly I thought eco stop/start was only in TD4e models, and so didn't think mine even had it...but then why does it have a button on the dash lighting up for it?

Thanks a lot, appreciate any words of wisdom!

Is it a manual or auto? I assume if it’s flagging an error message when pressed the car is expecting it to be fitted

Need to get a proper diagnostic carried out on it

Look at the VIN of the car (under wiper on passenger side) if there is an ‘A’ or later before the ‘H’ just before the 6 numbers at the end of the VIN you’ll have stop/start fitted.

Thank you, I've got the VIN, I'm not 100% sure I understand you correctly. There are A's in position 2 and 5 in the chain, and an H before the line of six numbers

Thanks a lot for your reply

Ignore this post. I answered a question in the wrong thread, but put it here. :(

Thank you for explaining this. So which A am I looking for to see if stop/start is fitted? I'm not sure if there's a word missing in td4van's reply. Thanks for your help

Ok so you should have stop/start as that’s a 2011MY

You’re only option is to get it booked in for a diagnostic session to be carried out including checking the battery spec and condition, fault codes and live data

Further confusion it's a 2010, is that what you mean?

No - it’s a 2011 model year - model years are used by car manufacturers to introduce new features and changes etc and are generally brought out the year before hence why yours is a 10 plate (registration year) but a 2011 Model Year

Advise still stays the same - proper diagnostic session to determine what’s going on
