2004 TDV6, low mileage. Should i buy??

It's a TD6 not TDV6, they don't have cam belts they are chain driven and early L322 didn't have EPB's either ;)
 
Nice to see the honesty in here. No sugar coating. I would've loved a newer disco or a range (would have to be a vogue) to commute in but the running cost/risk is big. You need to go in with eyes fully open that's for sure. I'd want another 8k in the kitty buying an 8k rr. I think it's easy to forget when motors like that become affordable to us peasants that they were once 80 odd grand and still have the running costs of an 80k car. That's why I don't have an m5 lol

Afraid it's a common misconception that all L322 are Vogue trim, they're not and not all Vogue trims are L322. The Vogue trim was around long before the L322, and still around on the L405.
The L322 and L405 are known as FFRR. The sport is the L320 or L494, known as the RRS. They all having varying trim levels.
Saying you would like a Vogue is akin to going into the Disco forum and saying you'd like one of the trims , without saying which model.

Ahhh I see - thanks. I should go back to were I belong shouldn't I!! :oops: Twas just interesting seeing the honesty and non bias re the big motors. People must either have a big pot for rainy range days or huge balls!

Lol , no worries, it's just a pet hate ;)
As for the honesty, no point lying or sugar coating it these girls bite. If we're not honest with prospective owners, they'll land in a world of pain, and as most of us on here have been there, no point in spreading the misery . But it is always added, that once you get one, you will become it's willing slave :)
 
I went straight for a 2005 4.2 Supercharged because I didn't need fuel economy and loved the performance, it's quicker than most cars but twice as big so a fantastic driving experience. When it comes to maintenance it was £70k new and the spare parts and garage labour rates reflect that. If you can do the easy bits yourself, have full recovery assistance in place and keep at least a £2k float for emergency breakdowns you should be able to enjoy your purchase as these cars are very addictive. Good luck and let us see the pics when you finally get one home.

Thanks all, had aother good look and service book. Nothing major has happned and it looks like its been driven to the shops and bacl for the last 14 years. no rust or visible issues under the bonnet. The price is actually 6,700 in the end. had wnother test drive and its decent. It san old car so its not gonna be as soft a drive as modern car but to be fair it was the same as my 2016 XC60 comapny car. Did some quick gear shifts to reverse and it seemed V smooth and quiet.
Gonna make a decision in the morning but i guess have to be bold and go for it and deal with anything down the line. I agree thou, theres no feeling like a proper RR. Has more about it after 14 years than most new cars. New sat nav and entertainmnet system also. all electrics seemed to work for now. Is this to good to be true?????

If you decide to buy this one, or any other FFRR, may I suggest you book yourself in for a day's 4x4 experience. It will stand you in good stead if you have never owned an almost 3tonne, high centre of gravity, 4x4 before.
 
@HMRRTDV6 Good luck if you decide to go for it, its does sound like its been looked after and at least you know a little more of what you might be letting yourself into, if you get it run it round for a bit then do an oil change on the box and change the fluids on all the other items then you have a known starting point and condition of said fluids can give you an indication on the condition.
don't be tempted to get the gearbox megaflushed this will disturb any crud in the box too much.
 
Thanks again guys. Its been awesome advice and at least Im not going in with rose tinted glasses. I have a few mates who are into LR's. At the end o fthe day if its goes ***'s up, its not life changing money and easier to scarp a 6K car than a 20K car which i would have to keep getting fixed.
