It looks as if they may be number on the flat of the block just behind that Brown cable clean it up and seeHaving changed the engine for a 2.25 Petrol engine I am struggling to find the engine number. The position at which I believe it should appear shows no trace of a number. Just wondering if anyone could advice where else to look.
Many thanks

I think Wildefalcon is right - it does look like the front cover on the 11H or 17H engine. In which case the engine number should be where he says: above the plate where the fuel pump is mounted, to the left of the dizzy.any chance it's a 17H?
Good news if you have one of these, especially the 17H!
2.5 ,but they run a twin choke as standard,so most likely a 2.25 going by the carbWhat is different about that engine?
What is different about that engine?
Unleaded head, which is also very tuneable.
In the long term, the head should be modified. Turner engineering do a converted head replacement, you send them your head and about £400 and they send you the modified one. Alternatively, you can put a lead replacement additive in the petrol, that's what I do. There are some that will say you don't need to but the valve seats will burn if you don't and that wil lead to bad running and backfiring.Do the standard petrol heads need to be modified for unleaded fuel? It's not something I have ever thought about much as I run a diesel.
