Hi my Disco wont start its like it is not getting enough fuel through.
I have changed the fuel and air filter and also fitted a new fuel lift pump (Delphi) but it still wont start it has been parked at my brothers for 2 weeks now.
I also bypassed the sedimenter.
The injectors have all been checked and there all getting fuel through.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance

when you crank it is there anything coming from the exhaust? get someone to crank it and put your hand over the exhaust.
also take the oil filler cap off and check for smoke coming out of the filler hole.
also check the timing belt

Partial blockage in the fuel line? Crap in the tank stuck in the pick-up tube (I've had this happen on my old Defender and on my boat)

Exhaust smokes while trying to start it.
Cheers for all the replies people.
Its doing my nut in wanted one for ages and it broke down after a couple of weeks

when you say the injectors have been checked.

have you taken them somewhere to be tested or just cranked the engine with them connected but out of the engine?

Not tried out the filler yet as im at work at the min and the car has been left outside my mates house where it failed to start. Just undone the unions on the injectors and checked fuel was coming through while cranking. Seems a stronger flow from the front injector than the rest but fuel is getting to them all

its very unlikely if you are getting fuel but, check the wire going to the fuel cut solenoid on the back of the fuel pump. if it is connected remove it, its only a spade connector and check for fuel again. you should not get any, if you do then this could be the fault. check the wire is providing 12V when the ignition is switched on.

like I say I doubt that it is that but its best to eliminate the simple things first.

also when looking for smoke from the filler cap shine a torch in there to make sure everything is moving inside the rocker, this will tell you if your timing belt has snapped. it will not tell you that it has slipped though. if everything is moving in there the belt could have a few stripped teeth knocking the timing out but for now you need to eliminate the obvious things.

Ok mate i will check when i get to it next. Thanks. If i cant sort it soon i dont know whether to break ir scrap it need to get it sorted really as the MOT runs out on the 29th

this will sound like a really obvious statement but it will either be something simple or something serious. hopefully it will be simple. usually its getting a diesel to stop running that's the hard bit!

if it is getting fuel and air, and the exhaust is not blocked, in other words it can breath then there are only a few other variables that can stop it such as timing and compression.

let us know how you get on

What would the exhaust get blocked with? Just reading comments again since i had the car i used to start it in the morning and have to put full revs on it blew loads of smoke out then was fine for the rest of the day. Could this be related

they can get blocked with loads of different things, from malicious blockages to a build up of oil and sludge in the cat.

black smoke is unburnt fuel so it could be running to rich?

also check your water header tank for oil or bubbles when you are cranking it. you will need to have a car and some jump leads to hand as the battery will soon be flat with all the cranking

Intercooler hose ok?
They're known to collapse internally.
