Sorry it's me again with yet another question (even I'm getting bored of my own voice :( ). My new to me 90 has a disco 200tdi engine fitted, somebody in their wisdom decided that it would sound really good if they only fitted the exhaust manifold and then removed the rest of the exhaust from the next fitting point (so under the the vehicle and probably about a foot behind the engine). It has the flange (great word) and three bolt holes to attached the next section. My question is, what do I buy to get back to a full system, it's not the standard 90 exhaust and I am assuming the disco exhaust will not fit so any direction would be appreciated.

Give me another week and I will stop asking questions ;)

Picture would help

Also the downpipe from the turbo is not standard, either if you can weld or fabricate then the engine converter makes one or they buy the steve parker conversion pipe.

sounds like that is what you may have.

take a pic and post it, will take a pic of my 90 later which is similar age with a 200tdi engine in it

after that mine is standard 200tdi defender / 90 exhaust

With the 3 bolt flange sounds to me that it has been set up to use the turbo diesel exhaust system. My 90 is 200tdi converted from TD has this system. I could have gone for the tdi system but the chassis brackets are in different places and the TD system was in good order.

Have about a foot of snow, once that has gone I will get underneath and take a couple of shots.

Lol...

That made me laugh

that looks very similar, will try and get a few photos tomorrow when it is light.

@Mudhound , for absolute ease just buy a complete off the shelf exhaust system including new manifold...they're cheap as chips and readily available. If the downpipe is some bodge jobbie the new mid and rear sections may not fit and you'll end up wasting hours faffing around to make work.

I've just bought a Def 200tdi complete exhaust for my 90 from these people https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROV...755053?hash=item1a7c9c1b2d:g:qXEAAOSw~Ndc56tq @£137 it's a no brainer, made by GT Exhausts and needed very little fettling to fit. Or buy the individual components from Steve Parker https://www.steveparkers.com/produc...hausts-series-defender-90-and-110-parts-shop/

@v8250 you are a life saver, that looks just the ticket. Thank you

@Mudhound , happy to help - it's funny, but often with Land Rovers it's just worth biting the bullet and buying a part that fits right first time. It saves a fortune in toing and froing and the one thing we're all short of, time:)

@v8250 Totally agree, spent enough time trying to make things fit that aren't designed to fit. Looks like it has all the hangers with it too

Yes, it comes as a kit. You may find some of the hangers need a flex to fit properly. The only fiddly part is fitting the manifold securing bolt next to the engine mount. I find the best way to fit an exhaust is to completely install, but keep all bolts/nuts lose. Then tighten up from the manifold...working rearwards. This way there's no stress on the manifold itself

You sound like Ed China :)

Just got underneath and taken a few photos the best I could. It’s not a three bolt flange but a two. The system I ordered off eBay today looks to be a two bolt (phew). Couple of pics attached
