hi there, I was lucky enough to acquire this 1976 landy diesel lwb pick up, it is scruffy, has a few bits of rust on the underside but the chassis is still serviceable, a few plates and sort the brakes etc and could be road legal again, or a full resto, I am going to sell it on as i am a plant mechanic with vey little time on my hands....what should i be asking.....it starts and drives , has been in the barn app 20 years so i am told, the engine is perfect, sounds very good for its age, 79k on the clock...i am not decided wether to use it as a play thing at out farm or sell it on,here are some pics of it, what you guys think



as said, it starts and drives, but needs a resto....to make road legal needs brakes sorting, few plates welding, some large some small, chassis not to bad considering, and a few light lenses

This is the most pathetic attempt to get round that rule I've ever seen. There seems to be a lot of other landues in the background of you photobucket pics.. For someone who doesn't know anything about them...

I'd love a 109 pickup, I'd keep it if I were you. How much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?
 
are you idiots for real, i came here as i dont know bugger all about them, the guy that i got it from owns the defender in background and father in law owns the old disco, i own a citroen picasso, its not a for sale post, im after advice, i am not sure what its worth, im not sure if its worth saving, and im not sure what you people think i am up to exactly lol, im 28 this thing is from before my time, ive never touched one til now, maybe people should ask some questions before jumping the gun, id rather keep it and have abit of fun with it, but i dont want to destroy it if its worth saving, thats all im asking. its NOT for sale yet, but maybe in a few weeks if i decide its to much work for me to take on...
 
the bloke i got it off also has a rotten 110 defender and another 110 which he has just parked up as he ****ted with the bucket on his slew, he then bought that 99 defender in the background......any chance of some serious answers, im not here to spam, im not here to annoy people and im not here for abuse, i always found forums good for advice and help, i always use ebay if im going to sale, not a forum as like most people i want as much as i can get for anything i sale and ebay is certainly the best place for that

I rebuilt a jcb engine and got the landy as part payment for my time, so doesnt acctually owe me anything which is why i have no interest in actually selling it
 
Don't break it. Barn finds are always sought after by someone. How many previous owners?
Long wheel base ones are also much less common. If you do the basics to get it an mot and the engine & bulkhead is good then I reckon around £2k.
Restored ones fetch upwards of £5k done nicely. If you sell as it is then about £750 would be tops as a project for someone - likely £600 tho.

Sounds like a plan. To preserve value, keep the original engine (slow and hard to live with but you'll have fun making smoke patterns like a red arrow on cold mornings.) and keep original damaged paint work unless you plan full resto. It will cost you money but if you can do work yourself then this will make it more viable. I suspect it will need chassis & bulkhead patches and fuel tank.
I guess firstly replace all oils - diffs, boxes etc. drain off stagnant diesel and refill and stick in new fuel filter. If you work quick you'll be able to get her mot'd by Monday! ;)
 
going by one of the pictures i'll guess the dumbirons aren't in too bad a condition looking at the way it's been dragged out of the barn and it's semi-suspended by the front bumper

still needs a good poking though
 
i spent yesterday on the old pig, 4 patches welded on the chassis, a good service, some good second hand wheels and tyres, couple rear light lenses and in for mot this afternoon, failed on .................., blowing exhast manifold and a bit smoky, so a good thrashing has cleared that, will sort out a manifold gasket at the weekend......i have decided to keep it as a bit of a fun for now, i even managed 55 mph out of it lol
