guys i needed some help on the dash board and the gear lever. Isnt the lever supposed to be crooked near the top?? Or did straight ones also exist?
is this the correct layout for the dash. Clearly the PO has put a plug heater glow indicator at lower left. What was there originally??Also the pull switch in top centre is that correct ?? Isnt there supposed to be a switch there?? just imported three (three position)switches from L. R. Series - specialists in land rover, land rover series and range rover - gearbox, axle, transmission parts, spares and major units, (only one works btw) what do i use them for ?? head lights/park lights, wiper, and what else ?Pls help!!!! BTW other stuff on right are water temp and fuel gauge fitted by PO

We've finished priming and paint priming most of the body and assemblies, its very cold here and towards the evenings we light up a small wood fire to keep the layabouts warm. Even tried out an internal roll bar for size!! We then got a new T handled lock for the upper tailgate (liberated from an Ambassador car) and then we modified the original Land rover door lock tumbler to fit its key so we could use a single key for all entry locks;). Just scraped and ground the little springs and brass plates also liberated from a Maruti car door lock !!!!!!!! :p Heres a shot of the car as it looks now and one of all the little itsy bitsy things yet to go on to the car!!

today we fixed the pot meter in the fuel gauge. the PO had shortened the float arm ??? simpler way to offset the instrument error of the new non stock gauge he had fitted. will have to get it right by trial and error. then we started on the Safari roof by rivetting the stifener supports first.:blabla:

Ok, today we put on the first coat on the basic body and then messed about with the speedometer to make it work, the lock on the freewheel had come off, put the gear box end of the cable into the mouth of a drill and ran it to check whether it works, the speedometer just moved to something like 5kmph, will have check again. hope you like the colour ??:)

if the speedo reads slow-tilt the speedo and needle should move freely.
If it does not then the speedo's are normally 2 parts
1)input shaft with magnet and reduction to mileage/trip
2) spring loaded metal shaft with cup in vicinity of magnet and needle fitted.

From experience the 110 model ones are internally shielded and the pressed ring holding glass on would be difficult to remove without damaging.

if you can get access then can of spay grease and lube bushes(oil evaporates)

Today we re-puttyed all the little nicks and blemishes on the paint , painted the roof and the seat box and did the tool box in the seat box the same lime stone as the roof. next for the wheels and steel cappings and bumpers!!

Ive had a look at the Speedo its certainly an eddy current speedo with the magnet and stuff but the needle does'nt move when i tilt it!! you think the hair spring holding the needle is rogered? or has the magnet become weak over time and cant turn the needle enough?? lets see when i hook it up to the transfer box and jack up the rear.BTW the speedo code on the face has 114 as last three digits, is that the number of revs the wheel should do per mile?
