One approach (which may not be relevant): if you're going out with a spouse/partner/mate, why not go separately and stagger the journeys by 10 days or so? That way you can identify any obvious gaps in your supplies and the second to travel can buy and bring them out. No extra cost but easier than ordering and shipping parts out there once you've discovered you need something.

A simple and easy to use camera that can fit into your pocket at all times. Take as many photos and videos as you can. This would be very interesting to watch and good luck with your project. You're going to have a lot of fun.

Is this for real? What a load of bonkers nonsense. If this has any ring of truth just ship it out on a trailer to wherever you are based.

A starting handle and some big padlocks and chains. Batteries are always stolen in Africa as they are used for domestic lighting with solar panels. A friend of mine was in a serious roll over chrash in Tazania driving a 110 with passengers in the back. Everyone survived but it was a close thing. Some bolts holding the steering box on failed. They turned out to be mild steel. Guess what, the local market had a set of nearly new genuine Land Rover ones for sale for 3x what they would cost new. No qualms about potentially causing a fatal chrash to make a few $.
