hi guys

currently making up a new 12s socket and looking at the existing wiring it’s been totally bodged , don’t know why they hacked into the loom like that , as there are spare connectors on the end of the loom plugs, one is 12n , other is 12s which is marked with a white insert

wondering if someone may know where to get the wiring terminal pins for the grey connectors plse

tried to include as much info as possible

will rip the 12n wiring out and sort it out properly

just can’t find these pins , did also notice on a differently designed connector it was marked ford

really appreciate if anyone knows please , would need 20 x of them

many thks as always

The 2.8mm mini connection pin is a standard spec, so all the suppliers have them, u may have to purchase the terminal block as well as u only require a very small quantity, have you tried Vehicle Wiring Products. Maplin may sell them by the packet.

hi

many thks, what i’ve done is ordered 5 x of each from a few different companies to see if they match up, only cost a couple of quid from each , so fingers crossed will at least find some that work, lol

also found a spade splice connector as per pic below in order i can sort out the bodge that been done to the wiring in the past

thnk i’m going to totally remove the 12n wires and socket and just have the 12s installed, that way for future the correct loom can be bought for the 12n and would then just be a case of plugging it in

just don’t know what’s been done underneath the insulation tape until i peel it off, but not happy the way it’s currently been installed

thks again

Wow, Discovery inner rear quarters with no rust :eek::eek:

Ok it's a D3 but still surprising that a 10YO disco is rot free.

rest of the body is in the same rust free condition :):)

don’t know what sort of metals or treatment they gave everything , but what ever they used it does work

Sadly, they're not :(

They're Yazaki YES/YESC Kaizen unsealed male 2.8mm connectors.

The male terminals, are like this -

The 2.8 'mini connection' you refer to, is called all sorts of things - Mini Lock connectors, Hitachi connectors, 110 connectors, 2.8 connectors, Motorcycle connectors, etc...

They're available everywhere, and are made by numerous manufacturers, but are all based on the Sumitomo MTW 110 connector series -

Not what ... a 2.8mm isn't standard spec ?

2.8mm is the size of the terminal's blade, not a spec.

The terminals to fit these connectors are a specific type, made by the connector manufacturer - Yazaki in Japan.

You won't get them from VWP or Maplins.

@PaulMc

hi paul

this is as far as i’ve got , loosely placed some heatshrink on the conduit and got to unclip the conduit Y piece so i can then simply thread it through the landies towing grommet

wondering if anyone knows where to get some crimp tools please

spec of the terminal is 18-16ga Terminal (.8-01mm2)

just can’t find a crimp tool that has the correct die

am i right in saying as it says .8 that i need a crimp tool with a 0.8mm size, ur know it must also depend of the casting shape

do u think this would work please

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ratchet-Crimper-Plier-Crimping-Kit-Cable-Wire-Electrical-Terminals-4-Spare-Dies/162770979114?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

trouble is smallest by the looks of it is 0.14mm

many thks

For the Econoseal / junior power-timer/ Superseal style 2.8's you would need an open barrel 'F' type crimp tool with correct die set
The cheap ratchet tool on ebay looks like it has a die set that might 'be made to' work but is still a generic tool so possibly not....
You can get a cheap non ratchet open barrel crimp tool that you have to use in two hits, once for the insulation and once for the wire conductor
