'02 L322 Radio ON/OFF, Analog clock resets

OK here is what is happening with mine -

I cannot use the radio to set the date or time or reset trip meter or fuel consumption or anything. It just will not interact with the instrument cluster. I have tried resetting (option 21) and battery resets also. So the clock stays at --:-- and the date stays at --/--/2008.

I know the analog clock is set with the digital clock. The analog clock starts to work, funnily enough, like a clock. But turn the radio on and I can watch the dials move back like I was in a time machine. Keep the radio/CD on for 10 minutes and the analog clock indeed reads 12:10 (in analog ). Turn the radio off and its a time machine all over again.

My questions -

Any Ideas?
Where is the ECU that controls the interaction of the radio panel and the instrument panel?

Thanks
Hey, did this ever get fixed?? I'm having the same problem in my 2003 HSE can't even reset the fuel consumption or anything

I'd be checking fuses first, then looking at the permanent +VE wiring to the MID unit.

Download the RAVE workshop manuals as these will have the electrical schematics in there for you so you can chase the wiring.

Sounds like when the ignition is switched off, the power to the unit is switched off...(which it would do, but there should be a permanent 12V supply to ensure the memory settings are retained)....I'd be checking that out first.
