0-60 - What's yours?

Did mine today. Disco 1 3dr, 300tdi, 150k miles, on 245 - 16 Kuhmo muds. Highly inaccurate 22 secs going by the speedo. As the tyres are a bit oversized I recon it will be a bit less. And it made a LOT of black smoke :D:D:D

And the point is? I think the 0-60 (usually 0-62/100kph these days) is the most irrelevant statement ever made by a manufacturer. A far more important figure for everyday driving is the 30-50/40-60 figures in order to reduce the TED (time exposed to danger) when overtaking, especially on single track roads - & yes I already know I'm an old fart!

I think the 0-60 gives a hint at those times, especially as the majority of truly modern cars pull all the way up to and over 100.

Such short bands of acceleration would be over in a blink for many cars and are often not likely to be achieved due to the terror that dropping down 3 gears and booting it would induce in most drivers.

Anyway, picking her up next Tuesday so I'll join in, but I doubt it'll be as fast as the other >50yo design I have in the garage which manages 4.8s

I need an accurate calendar for my N/A 110, have seen 60 on the clock couple of times but dont think I will thrash the old thing, it may be slow but its errrr graceful :)

The TD4 auto I have will do it in about 15 seconds, but will go one to a heady 100 in theory.

My is now remapped so ought to be quicker.

When I put a Ronbox on with the remap it did it in about 12 seconds. But as I plan to keep the car, the Ronbox was removed and sold in the interests of not destroying the transmission.

Got it down to 13 secs now in my 300tdi 110 defender pickup after some more setting up but still on my bigger wheels so that's not helping and my tappets need doing must sort them. The new turbo system is awesome.

Quite like plastic cars, no rust, don't dent, the Lotus is trapped in the barn right now with the inlaws boat in the way, couple of weeks and I can release it for the first time this year once he gets his crap out of the way.
