If I had bought a car then had to spend the same again to fix it then I may well call it a lemon.
Look at it this way, by the time you get that stuff done you will have a perfect vehicle, Quick check on autotrader there are plenty of folk asking 10-12k for FL2's but most seem to be 3-7k, so I wouldn't worry too much. Whats the mileage ?
I suspect most of those 3-7 k ones will require similar work doing. belt/clutch/discs are things many would do anyway on 13 year old car at purchase just for peace of mind. I would think you could haggle a good deal on getting so much work done.

Oh, I read it as its bought already.
Lots quote per job and add it up, I had BMW knock 399 off as I argued the car was up on a lift for x and y already with front off so the price for z wasn't valid or fair.

Seriously though once you add repairs insurance Ved replacement battery fuel and set of fluffy Dices in the first day. Lemon would be Lime.
By the time you have bought it in poorer condition, it's a runaway to the bank manager. Otherwise make it roadworthy then later on approach the repairs as funds allow.

Tricky to answer, what spec is it ? I am sure you can sell privately and get most if not all of what you paid back...
It also depends on your situation, if you really like the car, can afford to do it up, it all depends what that spec car is worth value wise.

However keep in mind you can go out tomorrow and spend 7k on a car and still end up needing work doing.
I would take someone friendly in your camp (AA check £245 or a FL2 owner) to once over any future purchase.

Erm, you should have asked this question before you bought the car.
Having bought it, really its your decision what you do now.
You know what you want to end up with and you have the numbers.
If you didn't know it needed all this work doing to it, how do you know car C isn't?
Why does it need shocks? Generally LR shocks are good for 120k.
EGR is an easy DIY item, although space is limited.
Clutch is an experienced DIY item.
Personally I'd cut losses. A GS isn't particularly desirable, and less so being a manual box model. Both these things will limit its value to around £7.5k in perfect condition, so no point in putting in £4.5k on an already £5k, making it cost you £2k more than one you can buy without the work.
However some of what you have listed is just maintenance, which can't really be considered the vehicles fault, but the clutch shouldn't need changing at 80k miles, when they're generally good for 120k or more.

So why are you getting a working clutch and shocks replaced? Have you been told it needs them?
If so, it sounds like someone is after work, in which case go elsewhere.
Landrover did a inspection do I believe them or are there expectations not realistic
