There are documented cases of people doing it and it working, but you really do want to try and keep the EAS working (which, provided it isn't ALL broken is usually cheaper to do than respring it). Personally I think if you spring it just becomes a very electronic Disco 2

With EAS the P38 is a very comfortable, versatile car
Why do you want to make the change? Is it because the EAS is broken? If so, explain the symptoms and a brigade, led by Wammers and Datatek, will explain what to do!
If it's because you're kitting up as a hardcore off road vehicle maybe springs are better? I'm not sure of that myself to be honest
