Dakar is good all rounder, slight howl at speed(well, as fast as I can goWhat they like on road as that where I spend most of me time. Do they scrub to nowt quickly or do they hold up like the grabbers?

at are better snow,hard snow,ice that you get on roads. check copper site for the winter use, at has the edge on them. If you was just on farm fields with snow and mud then yes. not for the roads, they become snaky
Would they go straight on the 'standard' disco 300tdi 5 spoke alloys whose name escapes me. Also, I presume I wouldn't be needing to cut arches or any of that silliness.

Now torn between dakars and special track at a few quid more. Most of my time is on road so my head is saying dakars but my inner idiot and the kids are saying special tracks.
Argh choices.
