Hello, I seem to have some oil bubbling up through the last rocker cover bolt (see photo). I've ordered 3 new washers to fit but was wondering if there's a torque setting that I need to use when tightening the bolts back up? Any advice, as ever, gratefully received..

Both surfaces clean if especially if fitting metal washers. If you have soft rubber washers tighten till you see the rubber squash slightly. The rule for a rocker cover is to nip the nuts/bolts. Don't try to give them the death. Rocker covers easily distort. Hope this helps.

Hello mate, thanks for your message. It's probably older than I was aiming for (I've got to keep the wife happy too this time) but can you send me some recent pics please? How does being converted from a van affect the insurance?

Hi everyone, I’ve got a 2013 L494 Range Rover Sport, back right door not locking and window not working. Replaced door module and door actuator/latch still nothing, it’s like no power check all fuses all ok.????
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance Nick.
Hi Ric. A while back you posted a thread about your temperature sensor (really helpful). Can you let me know how you checked the resistance please as I would like to do the same. i.e. where you put the wires from the multimeter and at what times during the running of the engine. The youtube clips I have watched suggest one shouldn't check resistance when there is a current flowing.
Many thanks for your help
James

Thanks still getting used to the forum a little
As a query how difficult is it to replace engine to gearbox seal as it appears I have leaks around the engine sump and gearbox to engine grrr and as I have it jacked up on stands I really ought to do them as well
The only thing I am replacing that was not at all planned is the front cross member as it turned out to be rotten and cant believe the previous owners mechanic didn't notice or comment about this and nothing on previous MOT's either. So fortunately found one and just have the great joy of fitting it!
Just as an update a week on and upgrades still ongoing wheels just picked up for a colour change and repairs. I will be posting some photos of everything that’s been happening over the weekend as think I deserve a weekend off if I can stay away!
The jury is still out as to whether I'm lucky or not... but I've got rid of the three amigos, and now I'm dealing with the srs light unable to communicate with it. HELP!!!
Hi
I am new to this site.
I am living in Rwanda and have a 1999 P38 Diesel which I use on a daily basis.
I have the, seemingly common, problem of trouble starting when the engine is hot.
I was wondering if anyone can help to let me know where I can buy the timer relay kit that people have mentioned to fix this problem.

The timer relay (hotstart kit) is required for earlier models only. an MY 1999 won’t need it.
Presuming air is not entering the system, What you are likely suffering from is chain stretch/worn fip. Look at ‘static timing’ in RAVE. You could possibly get away with giving the fip a slight tap towards the engine (that’s the direction it needs adjusting to)

Trouble with my Yellow Relay PCR 4427 situated by the fuse box in the engine engine bay, engine will not start?
I am also adding waterless coolant and had it up to Gareth at Empire tuning before I started he had a drive and said its fast already and some sort of mapping and maybe switchable so once I am finished with my works few hours with Gareth and lets see what it tests at so I can let my insurer know!

Then I will have to think of the next thing maybe something with Ashcroft to upgrade the gearbox I think.
Continuing upgrades to my 2003 TD5 Some parts on back order or under the dining room table. The list is so far new brakes, braided brake lines, upgraded pads and discs to terrafirma, new hubs, callipers and hub carriers. An upgraded VGT from Allisport along with upgraded intercooler, new radiator and upgraded electric fan, all new silicone cooling / water and turbo pipes. and a Ceramic coated exhaust manifold.
