    L322 Electro Viscous Fan in a P38

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/viscous-fan-speed.349729/ the other thread Slight improvement in cooling ability because of larger fan diameter and better/more effienct fan blade design. Improvement in fuel economy beacause of way more control over what the fan is doing and more...

    L322 Electro Viscous Fan in a P38

Some info ive found that might help someone do diagnostics on one of these fans. Pin 1 : Grey : Hall effect sensor 12v+ supply Pin 2 : Green : Hall effect sensor GND Pin 3 : Blue : Hall effect signal out Pin 4 : Black : Fan solenoid GND Pin 5 : White : Fan solenoid 12v+ Pin 1 and 2 is...

    L322 Electro Viscous Fan in a P38

So as i said in the other thread im planning on fitting the elctro viscous fan from the L322 4.2 SC into my P38. Its fitted in the car now with permanent wiring to it and the controller still just lying in the passenger footwell. The fan fits into the stock 4.6 cowling with some persausion from...

Okay that makes sense Thanks for the advice ill remember that.🙂

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

What is GGS and TR? Im from Pretoria. But around the Orange rover mostly will probably be the hottest conditions that the car will see. But i very much want to do a trip up through Namibia, along the Caprivi strip and then back down through Botswana.

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Yeah a reasonable portion of why is because i want to. Then next up is the stock fan is 25 years old so i would rather replace it earlier. So then why not just "upgarde" to the L322 fan? I want to stay with more commonly available parts. Itll be alot easier to find a L322 radiator fan if im away...

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Yeah looking at @Datatek attitude i can see that. How im planning on having the basics work is a PID algorithm that recieves coolant temp input and outputs a target fan speed in order to mantain the target coolant temp of lets say 95 deg. Then a second PID that receives actual fan speed and...

What is up with your snotty remarks? Where is it not correct?

@Datatek did you bother to read this?

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Yes and all of them that use electric fans have oversized radiators as a result. Its not about whether im listening to him or not, im just saying i dont agree with him, i dont think its going to work for my situation and im providing facts as to why i dont think its going to work.

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Im not sure why you are calling the viscous fans unreliable. All the P38 fans that ive read of not working where all just 20 years old and failing. Thats to be expected, you just replace them with the actual borg warner and they last another 20 years. All the L322 fans where also either just...

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

So controlling the fan wont be a problem, im going to be getting all the info like coolant temp and engine RPM and road speed from the OBD 2 port and feeding that to my "fan control board". I cant seem to find where i read that about the L322 fans. The P38s though i personally know of 2 cars...

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

So the L322 fan is currently on my P38 and i have a little control board with a PID algorithm and i can request a fan speed and then the board engages the solenoid to hold the fan at the requested speed. Ive only been brave enough to take the fan upto 2500RPM and it gets ****ing loud and i get...

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

The Fan exploded on my brothers P38 and we've bought a second one in the meantime that has the same marks in the bonnet of the fan exploding. But in the L322 workshop manual its specifically mentioned that a car with a siezed viscous must not be driven because of the exploding fan.

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Yeah I just want to know if there is someone out there willing to check what the max RPM is on the L322 fan and what the PWM frequency is on the fan solenoid.

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

@Datatek ive read about your mod. Ive decided against it and rather for the electro viscous fan. Reasoning I dont want that extra load on the alternator. Im guessing those AC fans are around 30amp draw and then the largest SPAL i can fit is another 40 amp. So extra 70 amp almost constant draw in...

    L322 Viscous Fan Speed

Ive joined this forum just to be able to post here. Ive got a P38 with the bi-metalic viscous fan and im in the process of fitting the elctro viscous from a 4.2 sc L322 to the p38. Ive got 3 main reasons for doing this. - Increased fuel effiency form a better fan blade design and having way...
