    Problems removing the fan!

Well the old viscous unit came out far too easily - was expecting lots of bruised knuckles and swearing. The new 16" electric is now in and fed directly from the battery. I think I'll be keeping the old unit in the back with the spanner for quite a while though. Only problem I did have was...

    Problems removing the fan!

Im comming to the same conclusion. It would have been nice to have it ignition controlled so I can isolate it when necessary.

    Problems removing the fan!

Theres a little diagram that says it needs power to the C connection on the Thermal Control and power (via an optional in line fuse) to the 30 connection on the relay, and a connection between to NC on the Thermal control and the 85 on the relay. Doesnt say where to get the power from mind!

    Problems removing the fan!

So having been to halfords and purchased said cranked spanner I just thought I would make sure I know how it all connects prior to having it off as it were. There seems to be a few spare connectors that could be used as the feed. Theres a nice big white cable behind the radio that is unused...

After buying a kenlowe fan about a year ago I have finally decided to have a go at fitting it. Its a bit embarrassing that Ive fallen at the first hurdle and cant remove the existing fan. I was expecting to see four bolts to remove but instead there is a metal cog like abject on the front of...

    Nutty Fuel Gauge

The fuel gauge on my SIII has recently started going beserk, vibrating all over the shop. I have no idea as to where to start looking - can anyone offer some decent suggestions? I did manage to change my speedo cable a long while back when it broke but from what I've read this seems a little...

    Defender economy?

Being a (petrol) series owner for several years I am now completely broke. I have started a new business and don't want to become white van man, so am interested in trading in for a disel defender. Any advice on fuel economy would be much appreciated.

    How fast can u go??

Thanks for the replies chaps. Miniman, how much for the diffs do you reckon. I must admit that I am no mechanic so I guess I would have to pay for them to be fitted too. Marcus/Aussieron, I think you hit the nail on the head. Life seems to go at a different pace when you get in your SIII...

    How fast can u go??

Fortunately I don't have to do much motorway driving - which is good becasue I seem to be the slowest vehice on the road! :( 65 and you can watch the fuel gauge go down. Anyone got a spare fifth gear they aren't using. Can anyone answer the question as to why all Series owners wave to...
