I have a 97 300tdi and the alarm doesnt appear to work. When the car is locked by remote, the indicators flash, but no light appears on the dash. If i sit inside and again lock it with the fob, it central locks but again with no red waring light on dash. If I then move around, nothing happens...

Before you buy a Freelander, I suggest you read the (rather long) thread on preloved.co.uk search for the thread "freelander head gasket failure", where there is a lot of info on both petrol and diesel models. I wish I had read this before I bought mine!!!! (mine was a petrol)

Mine probably does less than that!!!!! Which is why I'm getting rid of it. It would be cheaper to run a 3.9 V8. I suspect the thermostat has been removed to try and prevent the inevitable HGF, so it runs on choke all the time. Its such a shame that a car that has (imho) such appeal, has been...
