    The seventh bolt…

Thanks lynall, I just did that and it went on OK and I got the socket out! Now ll I have to do is re-assemble everything else...

    The seventh bolt…

I’m trying to re-attach the exhaust manifold on my 1991 200 tdi. How should I get the not onto the stud that is underneath the manifold, in the centre? I have tried using blutack to keep the nut in a long 17mm socket and feeling my way in, but can’t get it onto the thread.

    New shocks affecting steering

I’m sure they went on right, they come in different boxes properly labelled, so I would have had to make a positive effort to mix them up. Springs and shocks are packaged together.

    I fitted TF203M's.

    New shocks affecting steering

I recently replaced the 2" lift shocks and spring (front and back) on my 1991 200tdi with the new Terrafirma units. The old units had done 100,000 miles and I had obviously slowly got used to the idea that the shocks had no bounce to them. And the bushes on the front had completely collapsed. At...

    Defender 200tdi engine compartment

Thanks all, mine looks very similar to Lynall's, just a little less blue.

    Defender 200tdi engine compartment

It's a standard 200tdi Defender engine in a 1990 Defender. If there is no 'standard' layout, then fair enough, but I've only got one to judge it by.

    Defender 200tdi engine compartment

Does anyone have a picture of how the 200tdi engine compartment should look? I've done something wrong, and now It's extremely difficult to use the oil dipstick, because of the intercooler hoses. All the pre-existing bends and pipes seem to be in the right place, i.e. where they fall naturally...

Embarressed by my sender unit :-(

Me too. I know the size of the tank, and I know the milage, so I can get 450 miles on a tank. The gauge is just an indication, as far as I'm concerned.

    200tdi-type electric conversion

It's hard to get accurate numbers, but from what I understand the LR engine/gearbox/fuel/exhaust system weighs about 350kg, and the Leaf system including batteries weighs about 350kg. Happy to receive more accurate information. A new Leaf weighs 1500kg. Kerb weight of a 110 is about 1800kg. So...

    200tdi-type electric conversion

I'm looking to the future. I may not believe the eco BS (how many SUV's did the Neanderthals have to drive to end the last Ice Age?), but people in power do, so I think the days of a dirty diesel are limited. It's going to become impossible to drive the thing, probably due to the taxes on fuel...

    200tdi-type electric conversion

I expect that paying an established firm £80k could fix this problem :( Thanks for the info, everyone. I may have to put this on my 'To do in 2025' list.

    200tdi-type electric conversion

I am interested in converting my 1990 200tdi to an electric version. However, I have no interest in the £80k versions that give you a 0-60 time of five seconds, and so on. That wasn't what I was looking for when I bought a Defender. The 200tdi originally delivered 109hp and 188lb.ft of torque...

    Part numbers and paint colours

Defender 110, hence where I'm posting. 1991 200tdi. Metal. Because that's the area where the fuel is concentrated after I've wiped it clean and driven round a while. That's why I wanted the exploded drawings from the parts catalogues that were so kindly posted at the beginning of this thread...

    Part numbers and paint colours

In specifics then...Pages 518-579 of the110 book that is posted so kindly at the beginning of this sticky. I have a leak at the front of my fuel tank, probably related to rubber washers on the bolts clamping it to the chassis, but can't find the drawings of what it should look like.

    indicators not working

I have the same thing. See, I used the 'search' function. Side lights on, all lights work OK. Dipped lights on, left indicator works, right one doesn't, indicator warning light on dimly. right headlight dim. Main beam, as above but indicator warning light is slightly brighter. OK, so it's the...

    200Tdi oil capacity variations

Just done an oil change on the replacement 200tdi (apparently from a 90) I had put in 5k miles ago. Five litres out, that's all, put five litres in and it's just under the H mark on the dipstick after running it for ten minutes to fill the new filter, then leaving it to stand for 30 minutes. I...

    200Tdi Heater

Thanks. The airflow increases if I wind the window down (you know, when it's hot and I don't want the heater blowing hot air onto my legs :( ) so I expect it's just something I'll have to put with.

    200Tdi Heater

My 200tdi blows more, the faster I drive. The seals seem fine, i.e. we're not drawing in air from the engine compartment, and the air flow when static varies according to the number set on the fan control. Temperature control is set to cold. Presumably there is a clear run-through from the air...
