I recently replaced the 2" lift shocks and spring (front and back) on my 1991 200tdi with the new Terrafirma units. The old units had done 100,000 miles and I had obviously slowly got used to the idea that the shocks had no bounce to them. And the bushes on the front had completely collapsed. At least the horrible knocking has now gone. I like the lift, not because it looks cool or helps with off-roading but because it makes it easier to work under the car.
The back of the car seems to be at the same height as before, but the front seems higher. Stupidly I thought a one-for-one swap would be fine, but the steering seems to have been affected. It's more flighty and understeers, to the point where I skidded on a country road last week.
What have I missed in the installation?
