We took one out of a mates series three many years ago. I couldn’t believe the amount of wires crammed behind it for a couple of switches. Can’t remember where they all went but very likely to a handy multi pin plug.

The linkage for the steering damper goes off side. The bracket for the other end is near side.

It’s a container (the bit you can see), a push in and out cog and a rotary switch that duz the pushing. That’s it. The loose spring sits behind the cog but is attached to said cog and the container, holding the three parts together.

The hubs are self contained. There is a spring but it’s relatively weak and only puts a pound or two pressure on the locking spline. The hardest bit is hammering a torx bit into the rounded Allen key studs to unscrew them. The whole unit then simply pulls off the hub in one piece.

I have one piece seals. They are good but I too had to grind off the lip on the door frame. They are advertised as series so fit well but the bottoms have to be trimmed off to size. The top is ready tingly long and as you fit the right angled corners first then knock in the middle bit it pushes...

When my big brother took engines out it was my job to stand on the inner wings with a rope slung under the sump and round my neck. In those days I had the umph to squat a few pounds. It used to take three of them to lift it off me over the front. The biggest one we did was a Ford escort though.

I have a DDS tank in the shed but never fitted it. It weighs much more than I expected. It would be interesting to find out how much a britpart one weights in comparison. I’ll get round to it one day when I have the time to tart up the bits behind the old one.

One gets a little tired of driving to the scuba shop to have a full tank topped a couple of bar when the twunts charge per fill and not per bar. 👍

Mine fills to 300 bar. It’s regulated so has a longer sweet spot pressure of about 100-150 shots. Unfortunately a 300 bar dive tank has very few fills at the top end and although still good for an amateur drowner, is next to useless for prolonged top ups. It’s why a tanks service life is much...
