P38A EV Conversion / Hybrid conversion - Pie in the sky thinking

I've pretty much discounted the use of Hydrogen as a fuel source for an internal combustion engine. Take the below figures. 1 litre of petrol = 8.9 kWh 1 litre of H2 at 700 bar (highest you can have without cryo I believe)= 1.4 kWh So a 90l tank of petrol would require an equivalent H2 tank of...

P38A How to find emission data to check ULEZ compliance

Diesels have very high compression so they inherently have high Nox. This is why it's the EURO 6 (2014+) standard for diesels, but only the euro 4 (2005+) standard for petrols. I checked a 2008 BMW diesel for a mate and his was 0.2## for Nox so he was still out of luck.

P38A EV Conversion / Hybrid conversion - Pie in the sky thinking

I love my P38 and I think I will always want to own one. But it does make me wonder how likely am I to run one in 20+ years time? By then, fuel will probably all be synthetic, cost four times as much, plus a little extra as politicians will argue that you have no right to pollute the air when...

P38A How to find emission data to check ULEZ compliance

That's my point, the V8 is unrelated so unlikely to be a typo. If we were talking about two V8's of similar era, one being 0.051 and another 0.510 I would guess it's a typo. But were talking about a V8 being 0.051 and a diesel being 0.590. No reason to think it's a typo. Also, diesels typically...

P38A How to find emission data to check ULEZ compliance

Can't see it being a typo. I assume he has the 1.8 k series engine. Since it's not related to the V8 in any way, I can't see how there would be a chance to confuse the figures between the engines.

P38A How to find emission data to check ULEZ compliance

Newer engine usually have higher compression and smaller engines often rev higher. Great for efficiency and performance but the extra heat results in more NOx. Everything is a trade off so "better" all round often isn't achievable.

    P38A 4.6 ulez

I think you are over complicating this. The standards are set out here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/ways-to-meet-the-standard#:~:text=The%20ULEZ%20standards%20are%3A,minibuses%20and%20other%20specialist%20vehicles Euro 4 for petrol on Nox. That's it. If your car...

    P38A 4.6 ulez

This may well be out of date. Not sure. But there is definitely a NOx limit of 0.08 g/km for ULEZ for petrols
  10. Montyjohn

    P38A 4.6 ulez

In theory no as the limit is 0.08 but it's worth trying anyway just incase TFL are consistently incompetent

    P38A 4.6 ulez

I couldn't find this post you mention. Do you have a link? Or even better, which clause is he breaking in this document: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/lez-annex-F.pdf

So they can add incompetence to their list of failures. Great that it worked out for you though.

What does the CoC say about NOx?
  14. Montyjohn

    P38A 4.6 ulez

Strange, it should have failed their ULEZ requirements. How odd. The limit is 0.08 g/km which yours is clearly over. Any idea why they said it's ok?
  15. Montyjohn

    P38A 4.6 ulez

You have the 4.0 right? Your NOx value should be 0.051 g/km which is ULEZ compliant. Why did they reject your CoC? What NOx value did it state? The limit is 0.08 g/km.

    P38A 4.6 ulez

I was led to believe the 4.6 wasn't ULEZ compliant. What NOx value did your CoC state?

P38A How to find emission data to check ULEZ compliance

I do have the PDF but I have no way to save it here. If you email [email protected] they should send you the form. From memory they want a digital scan of the V5 and driving license. Good luck

P38A Air suspension not rising in one corner

That's good to hear as I pulled the trigger and bought the RSW system the other day. I've actually got an old tatty HP laptop and the software seems to be running fine on it. I'm just waiting for the cable to arrive. As it happens the suspension decided to heal itself the day after I bought...

P38A Arnott gen 3 air spring too stiff

I don't fully get how they work, but I don't believe a higher setting results in a higher pressure. Forcing air into a tank that can't expand or something stretchy like a balloon will increase pressure with more air. But the suspension air bags are free to enlarge without creating any more...
