    I flipped out a little when i read that since my EGT guage stays at 800 at highway speeds, and this is with no injection pump adjustment!! Then i remembered I am a dumb American and my guage is in F not C. 720C is 1328F. so yeah. Got some room to play. Thanks for the reference material.

    I will try the "buy a 3.54 salisbury diff on it's own from someone over here and match it up with an early disco/range rover diff for the front axle" option.     Well i finally got around to replacing the injectors and thankfully (after spending all that money) they were the problem. Only a little start up smoke now, no running smoke and a fair bit more power. Also lowered operating tempratures a fair bit, so it is clear the injectors were just dumping...

    so that didn't work. in fact it made things worse. I going to go back into it tomorrow and try and adjust the rockers again. I tried for a "sticky fit" but maybe i was a hair too loose. Is there a way to check to valve seals short of removing the spring?

    Thanks for giving me some things to check before dishing for injectors. Those things are pretty pricey compared to any diesel engine i have had before. I need to do some research on how to check/adjust valve clearances. The rest should just be tightening. Little curious about the turbo...

    got My 109 back today after having the stearing box, transmission and transfer case replaced. ( the steering box was just bad, the tranmission and transfer case came with water in them. . . it wasn't pretty.) Steering is still a little dodgey but way better than it was. Probably need to look...

    Wit hte 200tdi i run a heavily filtered mix of waste vegetable and motor oils with regular diesel to cut it. seems to work pretty well and keeps costs down.

    I have my '78 109 wherei want in mechanically 200tdi to lt77 to lt230. No i want to get the interior set up. Boost and oil pressure guages, xtreme liner the interrior and seal and pad the whole thing. . . lots of detail work to make it more comfortable but still rugged.

    multi-meter. The number of times a $10 multi-meter has save me time and money diagnosing an issue. I <3 my multi-meter.
