    Does the orange (glow plug) lamp turn off after between 1 and 10 seconds when the ignition is turned on, prior to going to the position that would normally spin the engine ?

    I've always used a Scotch Lock to break into the main beam lead for the relay trigger circuit. Then I make sure it good and waterproof by using self amalgamating tape, although not really necessary as it under the bonnet.
