What have you done to your Freelander today

Just got to the stage of no longer trusting it mainly due to reading all the premature failures and defects posted on this forum. At 114k miles, average of 25 mpg around town and £280 RFL decided that this was the right time to get rid, my days of sitting by the roadside waiting for recovery...

    window help required

All window regulators have cables that either break or jam due to the wire strands separating. Kits can be bought off eBay or you can go for the complete regulators with motor. Have a look on you tube for video instructions on how to repair or, as suggested, use the search button on here.

New to Freelanders and need some help.

As suggested check out the fuel pump under the O/S/R wheel arch. Pain in the bum to change but plenty of info if you use the Forum search. If pump has failed I would suggest buying OE or genuine replacement as eBay specials can be noisy and suffer from premature failure, filter should also be...

    Intercooler Hose

Just use a small open ended spanner on the hose clip, takes a bit longer but means you can reposition the hose clip.

    Strange smoking habit

Would suggest your PCV filter needs changing, do a search and fit the BMW mod. As 2.0 Hippo above post clashed.

    Egr Blanking Mod

Just noticed this ones from Prague so not sure I'd go for this as don't usually buy from outside the UK, plenty of others to choose from though and as long as they have the qualities I've listed they should be OK.

    Egr Blanking Mod

I'd go for item 171254929093 as looks the same as I bought but £10 cheaper. As long as there's a stub for the small vacuum pipe, the exhaust blank is heavy duty and it won't go rusty then I'd go for it (this one seems to fit these conditions).

    Egr Blanking Mod

Bought mine off eBay, cost £30 without new bolts and gasket (which you don't usually need as originals should be OK)

Every thermostat I've tested always fails in the closed position. When you test using a pan of water the stat opens when the water is heated and remains closed if knackered, the spring keeps the stat in the closed position until the wax expands.
