Alternatives to a Bosch MAF on L series diesel

This is not for L series freelanders

Alternatives to a Bosch MAF on L series diesel

The L series Freelanders only use the Maf signal for EGR operation so changing it won't have an effect on fuelling or engine torque.

    Freelander td4 problem heeeeellllp!!!!!!!

It won't give a plausible signal if it isn't cooled by the airflow so I would think the ECU is implementing the same default strategy as it does when disconnected. There's no point in guessing, you need to read live data from the ECU to see what's going on and get a multimeter on the wiring.

    Hello Again...

When I was looking to buy another FL1, which I didn't as it turns out, I had decided whatever I bought I would change the VCU so that I could sit back and enjoy the car without being paranoid about the unknown level of strain on the transmission. I'd just decided all this regular and largely...

    Hello Again...

If you really intend to keep it and keep it sweet consider a recon VCU, £300 buys you happy transmission for another 70k.

    Freelander abs reset

Ok given what you said I checked again and see that age is relevant. I have just looked at an older version of Rave in the connector list (1998), did a search for 'accelerometer' and got nothing so as you say there isn't one on very early models. According to the later Rave it is present on...

HSE, posh git! Condition, mileage, history etc? is it a good one or a 'project'?

    Freelander abs reset

C1220 is the accelerometer or G sensor. Rave description includes it in both early and later systems. A good code reader is the way forward. Plenty of instances of replacement ABS modulators to clear the three amigos. Also sometimes cracked reluctor rings appear OK until shaft removal...

    Freelander td4 problem heeeeellllp!!!!!!!

As above, The ecu is obviously detecting the maf when it's connected, but if you can read live data it'll probably show a low maf signal. Get a multimeter on the wiring, check the connector pin-outs in rave and confirm everything between maf connector and ecu.

    Fuel Burning Heater Query

Hi Nick, do you have a relay in the extreme bottom left of the passenger compartment fusebox or is that location empty? LR dropped the FBH as a winter pack option in favor of the PTC heater.

Hippo, is there a reason you put your name on information copied from rave?

HDC light is mine possesed :(

It's worth checking/cleaning the plug at the ABS ECU and any other connections since the code definition referred to circuit failure rather than sensor failure.

    Fuel Burning Heater

The FBH is not fitted to heat the engine, it's to heat and circulate water to the heater matrix. It's an auxiliary heat source for the cabin heater because of a difference between coolant temperature at the engine and the heater matrix in cold weather. If the engine takes an excessively long...

    Fuel Burning Heater

It can just be seen here mounted on a bracket under the inner bumper.... the plug is not visible in the pic. To test i just put a paperclip into the the plug contacts and provided the engine temp is also cold enough it should start the FBH.

there's a bit more to it iirc, like remove the rear console, radio and heater control panel.

    Dual mass vs solid

More than that it's constantly moving damping out torsional vibration, preventing the pulses felt at the crankshaft being transferred to the driveline and spoiling the smoothness of the vehicle, basically making it feel less harsh and agricultural. That's one feature I wouldn't want to be without.

what setting is your synergy set on

This poll is pointless unless the title was to specify exactly which version of synergy module.......the settings are model/version dependant, as well as Maf dependant assuming that it's for Td4s....
