Dual mass vs solid

Hi all

following on from a previous thread im changing the flywheel having just put in a new clutch and release bearing.
I was told that i can fit a solid flywheel as opposed to a dual mass one?
What are peoples opinions?
Also was told that seeing as its a new clutch its a sprung one so can just fit the flywheel.

dual mass where fitted due to the amount of torque given by modern diesels ,the flywheel acts as shock absorber for clutch rather than clutch plate as it can be much better done there ,ive fitted solid but wouldnt now as it is protection for gear box ,you can often hear this after fitting solid flywheel as a knock appears at tick over

More than that it's constantly moving damping out torsional vibration, preventing the pulses felt at the crankshaft being transferred to the driveline and spoiling the smoothness of the vehicle, basically making it feel less harsh and agricultural. That's one feature I wouldn't want to be without.

If it was me then I would still fit solid & put up with a bit extra harshness but fortunately I bought an auto so I wouldn't have those problems.
