    wont start.....the sequel...

And nothings wrong with that..... As faults develop they get easier to trace. Starting with easy start at least rules out a sensor issue and suggests fuel pressure at cranking as being the problem. It this stage I wouldn't agree totally with a failing HP pump but would recommend removal of the...

    wont start.....the sequel...

There is a fuel pressure regulator (which cuts off the Hp fuel at ignition off) in the back of the injector pump. Perhaps there is a wiring issue there or the reg itself is faulty/sticking. Failing that maybe the crank sensor? ?? You could crack open an injector pipe union on the rail to see if...

    wont start.....the sequel...

A rather unconventional way of checking leak back but if you got no fuel at all from any of the injectors thats ok. The pipe that disappears down the front of the engine is the return and yes other areas of the system return fuel into it. Normally this pipe is clamped during a leak back test.

    5Dr Tailgate doesn't stay down

I assume it uses microswitch in the door latch to signal its position. Best to get the trim panel off and take a look asap in case the fault progresses to not lowering the window when you want to open the tailgate cos then you have a hell of a job to get the trim panel off.

    TD4 engine over run

The fuel pressure regulator controls engine shut off so seems like it's sticking/faulty. That would explain the code, mil light on overrun and why fuel system cleaner helped in Alan's case...

No drive after propshaft removal ?

afraid not, although they may look the same the diesel version is uprated and has a different final drive ratio. You need a gearbox code that ends with the letter U.

    won't start :-(

Lp fuel pump/fuel delivery and Hp fuel sensor connection or harness are the most likely things to cause a Td4 to cut out. the camshaft sensor can cause non start but won't cause cut out once running

    won't start :-(

Indeed very many incidents of seized injectors on this engine. Angeloc's recently posted video demonstration of injector removal made me smile. It's not a good idea to use a heel bar on the plastic cam cover, ok for him cos they'd been out previously but don't try and remove a tight one like that.

    Synergy 2 used or new

Older model synergy gives the same performance improvement as later ones. IMO it's best to use the highest setting that doesn't result in excess exhaust smoke thereby giving the best torque and simply back off the throttle to gain economy. Non of them make mpg worse unless you rush about, using...

what setting is your synergy box on

Obviously only Ron could confirm 100% but it seems logical to me that "eco + more" is off, meaning that signals are unmodified. eco + would be better performance than eco mode but not yet using the power boost setting?
