Guys i need to pick your brains i have a 2003 td4 freelander and the air con is permanently on and the only way to turn it off is pull the fuse.
Has anyone else come across this or know of a poss cause and solution for this issue

cheers

Duff wiring or stuck switch somewhere, is it your air conditioning staying on, as in the little switch with the orange light, or is it your blowers are permanently on? If it's just the air con itself and not the blowers I would bet on a short in the wiring or a knackered switch, Give it a few good flicks to see if it goes off, easy to get on ebay or from a breakers if its the switch, a little harder to trace if its a wiring short.

If the screen vents are selected it brings on the AC.......without the switch's indicator light being on.....

as Chaser said, if you position your vent switch anything past the 1'oclock position your aircon will come on without the AC switch illuminating, they did this to aid demisting of the front windscreen.

If it's not the above, have you checked the relay for the aircon? Relays can weld themselves closed, not often, but I've seen it happen.
