    Clutch pedal dosent return fully

I had this issue with a failed slave cylinder. Like you I was beginning to think the worse until I discovered the leaking clutch fluid at the bell housing. Replaced the seals in the slave and the master and all has been well since.

Final drive unit oil seal & bearing queries

Thanks a bunch. The flange on the right in your pic was the type I had previously. With my "new" diff I just got from a disco 1 the flange on the left is what I currently have. I believe I tightened the castle nut too tight during installation so I shall get back to it very soon to rectify.

Final drive unit oil seal & bearing queries

Deffender 110, front Rover Final Drive/diff Would I be correct in saying the final drive oil seal number is FRC8220? Can this be changed in situ with oil in the final drive unit or would I have to drain? In addition, can the outer pinion bearing (sits behind the same said seal) be replaced...

    Would you believe it....

Hi to all, I had been trying to locate the source of a rather annoying rattle coming from the front of my 110 for the last 2 years that I have owned it. Literally I have explored every option I could think of: Mud flap brackets Brake shields Brake pads Loose bolts Steering damper shield...

    Steering adjustment required?

Hi to all, With the 110's front on axle stands and wheels clear of the ground, engine off, while putting the steering in full lock left to right I am experiencing some play in the steering. With the steering wheel and wheels in the straight ahead position, if the steering wheel is rocked left...

    Sudden, very stiff steering

Update: P/S fluid was leaking from two halves of the pump that was reassembled. Bought new P/S pump on Monday and installed it. Relatively straight forward installation and all appears well now. So i'll sit now and wait for the next issue.....

    Sudden, very stiff steering

Update: Took belt off of the P/S pump today and discovered what I didn't last time - some significant slack while turning the pulley from side to side. Definitely felt like the shaft in the pump was slipping. With the assistance of a friend I took the fan, fan cowl, top radiator hose, top...

    Sudden, very stiff steering

As an update: Power steering would go and come intermittently. Sometimes light as a feather for a day or two and other times incredibly stiff. When without power steerimg sometimes while putting lock in I would hear a thump and the pressure from the pump would suddenly engage even to the point...

    Sudden, very stiff steering

Thanks i will try this. Interestingly, i've found that once i start up and drive the steering gets lighter. While driving a short distance and then parking everything feels like normal. However after leaving the defender parked and attempting to drive after results in the stiffness. Am i right...

    Sudden, very stiff steering

Sorry for the delayed responses, i'm in a different time zone to you guys. -5hrs. Ok i've done the following: 1. Released tensioner, slackened belt and PS pump pulley turns easily. 2. Sudden, very stiff steering

Thanks for the reply. I believe the pump is being driven by the belt. I left the vehicle in a secure place and will be back to have a better look tomorrow in the sunlight. In relation to the belt, the condition is not the best. It has several cracks etc but it appeared to be running along the...

    Sudden, very stiff steering

Greetings, 300tdi defender 110 Steering just suddenly went very stiff after engine startup and attempting to move. No noises from pump, fluid still at high level in reservoir and tire pressures are good. A normal turn is now taking 3 attempts backwards and forwards. Any ideas as to what this...

    Front Drivetrain Slack Correction

Greetings once again. DEF 110 - TD5 chasis & axles. I just wanted to post for the benefit of others that I was experiencing an annoying kangeroo/jerking effect while at lower speeds with little throttle application. It would require that I engage the clutch to stop it. After narrowing the cause...

110 +2" light load springs - Opinions needed

Point taken. I am aware of the spring ratings for the particular brand I have in mind and also for the kit I currently have. In my understanding the HD/HEAVY LOAD +2" spring rates are pretty similar with manufacturers across the board. Just like Vilguy my rear pair is rated around 420lb/inch...

110 +2" light load springs - Opinions needed

The feedback is appreciated. Originally I was going for the medium load and I will stick with that decision. It is a 110 4-door pickup by the way. The currently installed HD +2" kit is way too harsh so the medium load kit is a step in the correct direction.

110 +2" light load springs - Opinions needed

Greetings, Does anyone have a 110 equiped with Terrafirma +2" light load springs or the equivalent from another manufacturer? Is the extension of the rear while unladen as great as the HD +2" springs or does the vehicle sit lower? I am trying to avoid the over extension of the rear that is seen...
