    Sump installation Procedure - 300tdi

Planning on dropping my sump (300tdi) and re-sealing. For you guys who did this job already is this the best course of action?: 1. After removing sump, remove all traces of old sealant from mating surfaces and clean with a solvent like brake cleaner. 2. Re-apply fresh bead of RTV along the...

Screeching after new brake pads fitted

I had this identical issue couple of months ago. It went away shortly after though. I believe due to the pads being "broken in". What has not gone away though is the pads rattling, and this is despite replacing the anti-rattle springs. I believe they rattle side to side rather than back and...

    300tdi 110 down on power

Might seem trivial, but i'd check the throttle cable adjuster. Could be going slack. Don't over tighten if loose though.

    300TDI Loss of Power

I second this. Mine works loose every now and then and when I readjust the plastic screw adjuster the difference in performance is like night and day. Be careful in setting the adjuster though as you could affect the idle speed if the cable is drawn too tight.

Doesn't seem to be running right

Throttle cable adjustment did wonders for me. I couldn't believe the difference it made. Check for slackness.

Oil at Vacuum Pump. Indication of what?

Greetings, A little help required. I'm aware of the 300tdi vacuum pump face modification to remove rivets and replace with screws. However my question is this: Does an oil leak at the pump indicate failure of any kind?

+ 2" lift kit and propshafts

The spring rates for the springs in that kit are very high. The ride will not be pleasant unloaded. The light duty 2" was an option for me previously as they are slated to provide a comfortable ride whilst still creating a lift. But maybe it will not be an issue for you as some people are quite...

    2" lift on 110

I knew this was the britpart kit even before you mentioned it because I have the identical one. My initial decision just like yours was to use the 40mm rears instead of the 50mm rears which carry the rating of about 420lbs per inch. In my opinion, if like me you travel mostly unloaded the back...

    Slight diesel knock

Well honestly as I said i'm not sure. In my mind the broken breather hose means that a part of the tank is "open to atmosphere" as it were. So technically when the pump pulls fuel the tank is no longer pressurized the same way it would be if the tank system was sealed. Kinda like a beverage...

    Slight diesel knock

Interesting post. I'll be monitoring this to see the results. My fuel tank breather hose is actually broken off completely close to the tank and I am going to replace it to see if this makes a difference in performance. I can also hear a slight difference in the noise of the engine when the...

Defender 90 lt77 Oil leak. PLEASE HELP!!

I would start with the easier options first namely: Check and if needed replace rocker cover gasket. (use OE/Genuine gasket and tighten bolts well). 2. Check crankcase breather hose. Check condition of hose and tighten jubilee clips firmly. As stated above the current location of the oil might...

    Standard,Genuine Heavy Duty Shocks??

I've noticed for the first time that there appears to be a genuine (standard) Land Rover heavy duty rear shock absorber for Defender 110s & 130s. What are the advantages of this over the "normal duty" genuine rear shock absorbers? Is the difference in ride quality or durability? I assume only...

    300tdi Coolant Temp Gauge Installation

Sounds good. I'll explore that option or i"ll have to invest in some adapters as 1/2" BSP is not that popular when it comes to senders. Thanks for the input, will update as to progress.

    300tdi Coolant Temp Gauge Installation

Greetings, Once again I seek the collected wisdom of this forum. I'm looking for a aftermarket temperature gauge to monitor the coolant temperature on my 300tdi. I understand that I need to match the temperature sender to the gauge in order to receive an accurate reading. Are there any 1/2"...

300Tdi oil leak - likely cause?

I'm laughing as I read these replies as my leak is identical on my 300tdi. I've gone through several combinations of washers for my oil pressure switch but leak still there. Recently purchased a new switch and will try cleaning the area as suggested above then install it and monitor. Kinda hard...
