Same here Ozzy. I work shifts too and next door has a young fella with autism. If he gets woken up or frightened he wont go back to sleep, poor bugger. I try to be careful but I need to idle my old tank to warm up as well, otherwise it sounds like the engines full of bolts when I accelerate and...

Thanks for all the info Ozzy and thanks for taking the time to to put it all down. Have had a look at some saviours and electric oil pumps. A friend had a remote filter and electric pump on a hot V8 years ago and it used to run before start up to bring up oil pressure and reduce wear. Do you...

Thanks for the link to that site Tony. I'm with you re: trust issues. If you wanted more power we got bigger engines so haven't had much to do with them. Always thought that anything that spun that fast was asking for trouble but things change. I also remember from years back an electric oil...

HI lightning. The oil is just over the low notch on the dipstick. The engine was idling when I got out to look at it. I saw that oil was pumping out of the braided exhaust coupling so I went back to the cab to shut it down. Just as I got there the engine knocked twice and then I shut it down.

Thanks Ozyboy. How is an accumulator set up. I have only had the Landy a few months so don't know much about it yet except it looks in pretty good condition. I have been very conservative driving it and letting it idle down but that doesnt mean the previous owner has. Have already looked at...

Will have a look at that. Air filter wasn't changed at the last service. Read somewhere that the EGR can cause a buildup of oil and carbon on the turbo fan. Might be worth looking at removing it.

Have got an original garret from the UK... just worried about fitting it without a bit of background of what might have caused so much damage in a short time.

Has anyone got a pair of pliers and a file I can borrow.... Think these might need a bit of attention as well... Came out of my 2000 TD5 Defender bought in April this year. First L/R I've owned for at least 15 years and something I always wanted to get back to. Thought it would be a better...

    Hi everyone from Down-under.

Nooooo...bullet proof the old Series 3; conquered nations hahahaha. Well mine was compared to the TD5 I just bought. Its like driving around on a block of semtec with a dodgy det. Just waiting for something else to blow up. I remember when I first picked up the second hand Series 3 back in the...

    Hi everyone from Down-under.

Thanks Mulcaster. Yes even down here. All over the Empire weary travelers have suffered in silence in there Solihull chariots; not least because you cant be heard over the transmission noise.

    Hi everyone from Down-under.

Thanks Col. Thanks for that and nice to be here. Re: the Series 3. Loved mine....Could take the wife or Mother-in-law anywhere and not hear a word they said for the whole trip :D Drove her every day to work and on delivery runs; and the only problems it ever gave were due to the Australian...

Hi all from down South and home of the Tassie Devil. Nearly proud owner for the past few months of a TD5 Defender when it runs and past owner of a lovely old Series 3.
