Thanks James, did notice they were different inside but just assumed it was differences in age of boxes. will give the spigot route a try. The extensions looked the same on the top so iassume if i get the quadrant in the right place the deffy selector housing should fit ok.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but i'm wondering whats difficult about swapping the selector shafts, what special tools are needed? i want to convert a LT77 disco box for use in defender (i have moved 200tdi engine moved forwards) so wondering if its possible to do the shaft swap yourself or...

As James says they are not a tight fit. IIRC there is a strong spring inside the slave that keeps the piston pushed out so when you fit the slave you should feel resistance against the pushrod as push it in and once bolted up the whole piston/rod/fork setup should be tight inside. Bleeding...

It is. There is a bit on the top of the outrigger that extends over the top of the chassis rail, its impossible to weld it with the bulkhead in place, you have to cut the old one off flush and leave that piece on the chassis rail, cut the new outrigger to match up and weld on. Not ideal. Like...

The ID of the rubber oil hoses on a disco 200tdi is 12 mm. When i did mine i cut the rubber hose and inserted an extra length of hose using brass connectors like these with jubilee clips securing, works a treat, pics below. The extra hose came from pirtek but you could probbly get it on...
